I voted #1! you'll fit right in in those... they're supposed to be comfy too. do you think you can last for hours on your feet in heels, even if they're all athletic shoey inside?

as much as i am for looking tres chic in paris, i have to say go with flats! most roads are cobblestone and that is MURDER on heels.. or just trying to walk straight.
what about a ballet flat? it would be oh-so-parisian!
but i think the flats you picked are comfy, cushy choices. also don't worry about buying before the trip! save your pennies to change to euros and shop there.

I wear heels on cobble stones, but I have gotten blood blisters on the bottom of my feet from doing it so, the heels may not be the best choice...
I ditto dot on everything else...

yikes about the cobblestones! here's the thing, i'm very comfortable in wearing heels but at the end of the day, they're still heels. then again at the end of the day, i'm still only 5'3. decisions, decisions!
and dot you bring up a great point about saving $$ and buying shoes there...i'm just afraid i won't find any once i get there. that's silly though, right? i mean it is Paris, after all!
Being short isn't bad in Paris...especially considering the men are all short (not to mention skinny). I wouldn't recommend heels, because as someone else mentioned, there will be a lot of cobblestone. Ballet flats would be ideal...when living in Paris I always saw girls wearing Pumas and Diesel as well. You might want to bring those Mary Janes for going out, because you'll be out aaallll night (I usually didn't get home until 4-6 am).

very very silly!!! jk! i haven't read much about your trip (have been kinda scattered on the boards) but if it's for business and you're fine with heels then go for it! but if it's a leisure thing than you will probably be walking more than you do in your regular 9-5 life. with the heels though, i would just be afraid that even if i wanted to go out and see more but that my footwear wouldn't allow it.
I'm only 5"3' too, and I voted for the black flats. I've done the heels on cobblestone thing before and it was dreadful. I got blisters and my feet and back hurt in places I didn't know they could! (and gingembre1 is right about French guys not being very tall...)
While I love #1 heels are heels so I say go with #2 if you are going to be walking all day and save the heels for evenings. You can't enjoy Paris if your feet are killing you.

amen to the girls who said to skip the heels. I was wearing comfy cushioned flats when I was walking around there the other day and my feet STILL hurt (although that's partly because I wasn't wearing socks). Ballet flats look extremely chic and just right, but one of the cushiony pairs you posted would probably be best...

i wear heels all day long too but in paris and london- i wore flats and was SOOO happy that i did. the cobblestones are murder on your feet in heels.
also- i'm 5'3 too and feel my best in heels but i went for comfort this go round (which i usually don't do) and i was soooo glad i did.
