Rash Hive Shingles?
Permalink Closed

Ok I have this weird litte cropping of pimple like hive on the side of my stomach and they are painful. I woke up with morning with them. Anyone ever had this happen or know what it could possibly be? It's annoying and gross.

I get them when I eat a food I'm allergic to (eggs, tomatoes... it's not always the obvious suspects like peanuts...)

It might be shingles. I had one shingle (one bump) on my shoulder/neck area my first year of law school (damn stress!) and I freaked out and went to the doctor right away. He gave me some anti-viral medication and I never got anymore. The one was extraordinarily painful though, like I'd imagine a spider bite or something to be.

In the past I've heard of people getting shingles on their abdomen, so it could be that. If it doesn't go away in a few days, I'd go to the doctor. My doctor said it's really rare for young people to get shingles, though. For me, my immune system was seriously shot from a lingering case of bronchitis, no sleep from school, and stress. If this sounds like you, it might be shingles. If not, it might be a food allergy, like Dizzy said.
