This was my favorite episode of the season so far. It was such a surprise to see them designing for the everyday woman- and relatives at that! I am so happy for Vincent! Yes...he is odd, may be weird, and does act strangely at times- but, I do think that he has the potential to be a really successful designer...and definately felt that he executed the most figure flattering and beautiful dress. He treated Ulis mother with such respect, such tenderness- and you could just see that this would be the type of enviornment that he would excell in.  The real every day client interaction: dressing them, communicating with them, and fufilling their requirements. He was thrilled with the assignment from the beginning, and in the end it showed. He probably wont be the last one standing- but, I think he deserves to still be there.

Jeffrey was so bloody out of line. I understand that we're only seeing edited portions of the interactions, but how dare he talk to someone's mother that way. It was so disrespectful. What an jerk. If I were Angela and saw someone talking to my mother that way, the shite would have hit the fan.  I wish he would have gotten booted.

Why are the producers not showing any Michael? He was barely featured. Is it because he doesn't bring enough drama? I liked his dress, but think the belt should have been tied to the side.

I think this is their next challenge:

I finally caught up on this show! Glory!

Vincent scares the hell out of me. How has he made it this far? He's a total joke.

I may get crucified for saying this, but I really like Jeffrey.  I agree that he could have talked to Angela's mom w/a little more respect, but I didn't like that she sold him out to Tim.  She told him what she wanted and I don't think he went that far askew from him.  I mean he is the designer, not her.  I didn't like the outfit, but I really don't understand what she was asking for .  It's not like she gave him clear cut directions of exactly what she wanted.  She was a little strange if you ask me...granted, I would have been upset to see my mom crying though.  I do like him though - I think he's talented, creative, and unique.  I respect that.  Also, after watching last night, I respect the fact that he basically hit rock bottom as a junkie on the street and has turned his life around.  He showed a different side last night.  Especially when he was in tears over Robert getting booted.  I think he's a genuine person and part of that is how honest and opinated he is.

Anyhow, I really liked Vincent's dress last night.  It deserved to win.  He's weird, but he doesn't really bother me either.

I really wish Angela would go home already.  I hated her outfit last night and I just hate her personality.

I was sad to see Robert go but he deserved to - his designs were sooo boring and last night's looked like a sack.

I found the episode to be a little bit boring.  Mostly because I didn't really love any of the outfits.  Although, I did think it was a really good test of the designers skills.

I like Jeffrey too.  Even though he's a cocky ass, there's something about him that I find totally adorable.  I love skinny rocker guys tho.  He was completely out of line w/ Angela's mom.  Regardless of what she may or may not have said, he should have taken the higher ground and at least have been polite.

I still don't like Vincent.  I thought it was great that he was so sweet and respectful to Uli's mom, but the dress was a big, dull dud.  Both Uli and Michael had better designs, IMO.

I was sorry to see Robert go.  I feel like he totally has potential, but for some reason he hasn't really brought it to the show.  He deserved to be out w/ the ongoing boring outfits.  I'll miss his banter w/ Kayne.

Can someone please tell me what was age-inappropriate about Laura's mom's outfit? It just looked like a black wrap dress.

oooh where to begin...

the idea of this episode is great.  you get to see how the designers interact with their family and get insight to what background they come from.

there were some moments in this episode that i loved, like seeing their high school pictures (kayne! jeffrey!), "i smiled so hard i smiled myself a headache," michael kors mom (helloooo karl lagerfeld) and heidi busting out the german with uli's mom.  i would've paid to see nina garcia's mother and/or tim gunn's mother.

but at the same time, it seemed so contrived.  i really wanted to see everyone design for their own mother/sister instead of someone else's relative.  it could've been such a fun episode, but just turned out being so uncomfortable to watch.  it went downhill from the moment the designers chose their models like they were picking teams for dodgeball. the fact that angela's mom was passive-aggressive and that jeffrey was just plain aggressive almost had me almost changing channels (which says a lot, considering i'm a PR junkie that's watched every ep at least 5 times thanks to reruns)

vincent did ok, but uli should've won.  vincent's set the bar so low that if he puts out something 'normal' people are shocked. if michael made vincent's dress, there's no way he would've won.

i don't dislike vincent or angela, but i'm upset because more talented designers were auf-ed instead of them.  thank god vincent doesn't have immunity.

I'm still pissed about last week's ouster. She was so freakin' cute and I didn't even hate her outfit last week. What was that about? It was the worst PR moment evah - choosing her over Vincent who so obviously deserved to go.

This week: I hate Jeffrey. He was rude and insulting and his design certainly wasn't good enough for being that annoying. Angela's mom was a bit of a drama queen - she should have walked away from his rudeness from the very beginning but a lot of people are like her. Jeffrey should have just apologized and moved on. He totally could have redeemed himself in my eyes if he'd done that. He was waaaayyy too defensive about her criticisms. She's obviously not the most fashion-forward person so take her thoughts for what they're worth. But I've never liked Jeffrey so my opinion is easy to come by.

I hated it that Vincent won this one. I'm still mad at him from last week and I think he's a raving lunatic and not in a good way.

All in all I thought the concept of the challenge was interesting but the execution blew. It's obvious that some designers have no idea how to design for different body shapes. A lot of those moms/sisters were smaller sizes and their clothes still didn't look good on them. This was definitely my least favorite ep of PR thus far but again, mainly because I didn't like any of the designs.

Most of the designs were very dissapointing.  Just because these are larger woman, does not mean you just use darker colors and drape the fabric over them!

What a turnaround Vincent made!  Totally unexpected!

Damn Laura, doesn't she know how to make ANYTHING that isn't high waisted?  Very predictable and boring.

Kayne's top looks like Michael's mom is going to have dinner at the Red Lobster.  Doesn't it look like a big ol' napkin over a shirt?

last week when they did the sneak preview of this weeks episode where heidi says, "you'll be designing for the everyday woman" and they show a silouhette of a woman behind the screen. i thought FOR SURE it was going to be martha stewart — you know... a little play on the word "everyday" and i was convinced it was her silouhette back there. i LOVE martha stewart so i was a bit confused to see a group of mothers/sisters on the runway when i turned it on last night.

that said, this was my least favorite episode of all three seasons so far. i think because, like squish said, it became uncomfortable for me to watch. especially the jeffrey/angela's mother crap. i just kept thinking, what if that was my mom? i just felt awful for her.

i didn't hate jeffrey until now. he sucks.

vincent gives me the creeps.

i don't hate angela.

every week i expect more from kayne than what he comes up with.

michael is solid and consistent.

i love how laura is completely confident and she never over-designs.

uli rocks! i totally love her and everything she's ever made. she's my print-mixing hero and my #1 favorite designer.

i finally watched it. i think jeffrey was a little over the top with angela's mom, but i also think that it looked like a big old misunderstanding. while he was pretty rude, you kind of saw in a few different places that he's a really hyper-sensitive person, and i think he really thought that angela's mom was trying to sabotage him and embarrass him in front of tim gunn--even though it was clear that she really didn't do that (to us). so not that i am a jeffrey-apologist just because i like him, but i can sort of see why the situation happened. i do think angela's mom was kind of passive/aggressive, and she very clearly went into the transaction with a bias against him (which, although wrong, would probably be pretty common for a middle-aged mom, just based on how he looks). anyway, the dress was awful, but i thought most of them were.

usually i'm not a total fan of vincent, and i thought he deserved to go home last episode, but i think he really redeemed himself here. his dress was great, and did exactly what was called for in the challenge--i thought he deserved to win. poor ulli, though--she always does a great job and is the second place-r, i feel.

my favorite things about this episode:
1) michael and how he talks about his mom--so cute
2) tim gunn crossing the street, laughing his heart out and schmoozing with the moms.
3) joan kors. rock. star.
4) laura on jeffrey's mom: "i thought she'd have a mohawk!"
5) jeffrey on getting angela's mom for the challenge: "obviously God got drunk today."

well my tivo cut off right when it got down to robert and jeffrey....argh...so annoying.  i feel like robert has been really boring but i kind of feel bad for him, because he seemed to be so conscious of it but just couldn't hack it all the same.

i hated that they made them design for other people's family members, of course it upped the drama, but it just seemed unnecessarily cruel.  i don't like jeffrey and i found angela's mom equally as annoying as her daughter, but the whole thing was just ridiculous and blown out of proportion.  "i've never worn powder blue before...SOB!"  i mean, come on.

is anyone else disturbed by Laura though?  she's like, "once you've got 5 kids, what's one more?  i'll just throw it on the pile with the rest."  yikes!!!  i like her designs, even though they're always the same, and i usually agree with her when she rags on someone else, but man, she gives me the creeps...

was it just me or until we saw joan kors up close (like in the park or whatever), didn't she and her son look like the same age?  i think they've both overdone it on the botox.

ETA: seeing peoples' moms is scary!  jeffrey's mom totally freaked me out

oh, and if they're doing some Delta flight attendant challenge next week like someone speculated, then Michael can just pull out the dress he made this week.  i love Michael, but seriously, didn't that look like a flight attendant outfit?
