What to wear to shop at Valentino?
Permalink Closed

As I said before, my BFF is going to the James Bond premiere & we are going to Vegas to get her a fabulous dress- she has her mind made up that she wants a Valentino dress. As sad as this is, I don't even have anything to wear to SHOP there. Help. I hate to be the poor friend that goes shopping in her Old Navy clothes, but the truth is, I am the poor friend! Well, the friend with less expensive clothes for sure.

We'll be going at the end of September so I have some time. I don't mind shucking out a few bucks for something nice since I can wear it in NY too, but the whole outfit needs to be around $250? I actually have some cool shoes - and even if I buy new shoes / boots I wouldn't count them in the outfit since, well, shoes don't count! I'd buy those anyway. Just keep in mind whatever I spend is less money that I'll have to shop in NY when I go in November.

Thoughts?

I think you'd look smokin' in a DVF!  Super classic, adjustable, what's not to love!  You could wear it for years and your cost-per-wear would be nothin' ....

I don't know where do get them on sale, though I'm sure there must be somewhere, especially with the season change upon us.  Bluefly?  Off 5th?

ITA. I'd just wear nice jeans, a cute but basic top and a fun shoe/bag and put the money toward gettign a blow out or something. I always feel like I looks so much nicer and "richer" when my hair and makeup is done to perfection.

Well, elle, as much as I'd love a DVF I honestly don't think I could fit in her stuff. From the size chart the 12 isn't close to my measurements & she doesn't believe in outfitting chunky gals....so until I drop another 20 lbs or so I don't think that's an option.

How 'bout these?  They're cheaper anyway, and every bit as cute!

I agree with ILoveChoo.  Wear some jeans (maybe trouser if you feel they might be nicer) with some great shoes or boots. And of course a nice bag.  I would definately put more effort in your hair and makeup. I feel like when my hair and makeup is done SA's are more attentive to me.  Have Fun!! Thats the most important thing!

Wear what ever you feel most confident in. Seriously who cares what the people who work there think. Besides, if they could afford to shop there they wouldn't be working there so they have no right to judge you. Whenever we're in Miami my Dh and I always comment that the guy who looks totally homeless in his cut off jeans and tank is usually getting off the biggest yacht. Confidence is more important than what you wear.

Oh wow, I didn't realize you would be going so soon.  That said, I would totally be down for a shopping trip in a few weeks.
