i've been looking for a classic, black purse that i can use FOREVER for a while now, and finally saw this bag in person at Saks.  needless to say, i absolutely fell in love with it.  it stands up to all the hype, and it's every bit as awesome as it looks.  unfortunately, the bag costs over $2000 ($2160 + tax, to be exact).  at that price, i'm not sure if i'd rather have a Chloe bag AND an MJ bag.    any thoughts?

when it comes down to it, IMO, the Chanel is going to be way more unquestionably timeless than either the Chloe or the MJ.

i have the matte black version of this bag, and i love it to death. i was freaking out at first for spending so much on a bag, but it literally goes with everything, and it's treated so that it's scratchproof. (i'm not too careful with my things, so this is a plus) it's a beauty!

miks, do you know if they still make the matte black version?  the one i saw at saks was metallic leather (so it had a gleam to it) -- still beautiful, but just wondering what versions are out there before i fork over that much money.  thanks!

I definitely agree with lilykind that the Chanel will be more timeless, whereas the Paddington would probably be more likely to look out of date. They're both beautiful though! I'm very jealous!!

i dont think so, they sold out of the matte black months ago everywhere (Chanel boutiques atleast, i'm not sure about Saks) and as far as i know, they are not a permanent line so they are not making any more (dont quote me on it tho!)


i hope you're able to find one! i get compliments on it all the time
