What are the best shoes to run on concrete, basically out and about in the neighborhood. I really need some new shoes. I want to get back into the my running mood. Any suggestion or ideas?

Asics.  IMO, Asics are without a doubt the best running shoes around.  I'm an avid runner and have tried others, but always go back to the Asics.

It depends on the shape of your foot and the arch.  I like Mizuno and Saucony but I have long, thin, flat feet.  I go to the Running Room and get fitted for the proper shoe for my foot and walk.  If I don't I end up with aches and blisters.

i'd definetely recommend going to a real running store to get your foot measured, and for them to look at your stride.  i did this recently and ended up purchasing a pair of Brooks running shoes, which i never would have considered had i not visited the store.  however, those shoes are by far the BEST running shoes i've had, much more so than nike and even new balance.  also remember that if you plan on running longer distances, you should go up a size since your feet will expand when you run.  i'd also recommend getting some real inserts, particular since you're running on concrete, to lessen the stress on your lower back and knees.

i agree with the others that this is the sort of thing you should go in and try them on and get fitted.  i did this and got a pair of nikes because i have really narrow feet and they were the least wide.

I think it totally depends on your feet.

I LOVE my Nike Shox and I am always running all over my neighborhood.

definitely 2nd asics! never knew how supportive a sneaker could be before i bought them.

go to a running store where they specialize in running equipment. they will look at your feet and determine the best support for you. i went to paragon sports and picked out some shoes and the really amazing SA said to me, "okay i'll bring you the shoes you want.. but i'm also going to bring out the shoes you need." and seriously the ones i picked out, based on looks, were terrible!!! he was on the money.
