I installed a new virus protection system on my home computer and the "package" came with a firewall. Ever since I installed it, I have been having little issues with my computer such as it will no longer let me download music from Bearshare (I have followed the steps it recommended for allowing Bearshare access to the internet but it still won't download) and it won't let me see certain pictures on websites (insted of the icon of the box with a X in it, it just won't show them at all. For example I'll open a Threadstyle thread and it will be blank). Is that the firewall blocking it?
I'm not really sure what a firewall even is. Is it important to have one? Do I really need it? Is there something I can do to allow regular, uninterrupted internet access? It is the Macaffee virus protection. Any help would be much appreciated!
I had it but didn't renew after my subscription expired. Everytime I restart my computer I have to disable firewall since it blocks my internet connection. So if it gives you trouble just disable the thing.
You should be able to set the preferences so that it asks you whether or not you want to allow x site/program/whatever to access the internet. That way you can choose.

That is what I had to do with mine - Zonelab. there is a menu to add in allowable sites/programs and internet explorer (or whatever your internet program is) was one I had to add in.
