What a strange/sad way to start the day ...

so I'm on the rail this morning, reading the paper and i open it up to find a story about a local woman who was murdered this weekend ... and *GASP* i knew her!!!  she died a very violent and brutal death and just thinking/reading about it is chilling me to the bone.  it's an incredibly sad story and what i knew of her, she was a very sweet person.  a self-made, prosperous woman who was well-respected.  she left a young boy behind. :( 


i'm so sad/weirded out and i can't stop thinking about it.  the police have no leads or suspects.

you're right, ttara, this is completely unnerving among other things.  this is the second " too close-to-home" incident that has occurred in my life.


JoceyBaby -- it sounds to me like it was a stalker situation.  she was attacked/beaten several months ago in her home and was hospitalized, but does not recall really what happened (or, she may have blocked it out bec. it was so traumatizing).  i talked to my ex this morning -- he had taken our daughter out of town this weekend, so i was the one that actually informed him of what happened (he knew about the previous incident and had talked to her after it occurred).  then he said he had gotten a weird phone call from his friend over the weekend saying that he was flying up this week, and he had not talked to him in about 4 months.  i'm sure my ex's friend assumed that he had seen the story on the news.  it was the main one apparently.  i keep up with current events, but get tired of the sensationalism of the local news.  yes, i know that's the media's job, but they spend like 5 seconds on the heart-warming, uplifting stories. 


she was stabbed 27 times in her upper body.  i believe that such brutality can only come from someone who knew her.  i have met her ex-h and he didn't seem the type who would be capable of something like this, but who really knows.  it's just heart-wrenching.

OMG that is awful!  I'm so sorry to hear about that.  I hope they catch the person who did it and that they never see the light of day again.

is this the McKinney, TX story about the realtor??  I live in the area and I heard the news last night on tv.  if it's not the same story, it's certainly tragic, and to hear of anyone who stabs a victim 27 times is really frightening, whether it's someone she knew or not.

Thanks, everyone, for the "I'm sorrys".  I feel like the police are going to find who did this -- a few companies have come forward with reward money, so hopefully, that will be a motivator to get people involved.  The story has been running nonstop it seems, so I hope that heavily publicizing it will lead to something.  Yesterday was just a weird day bec. I hadn't watched the news all weekend, so I hadn't heard anything about it until I read the paper.  I'm just so sad and totally weirded out that someone I know died in such a savage manner.  Also, I am good friends with the victim's former SIL. I called her yesterday to ask to her to please pass on my condolences to her ex but she had no idea about what happened bec. she doesn't live in the area and had been out of town (she hadn't checked her msgs either bec. her ex had called on Sat).  She was completely in shock, but she was ok.  She is coming in for the funeral tomorrow and probably staying with me. 


Please pray/send good thoughts to the family.  Thanks.


 


HB - that is totally scary about the serial killer/rapist being in your area.  Please take care and be extra aware of your surroundings.
