My new favorite products
Permalink Closed

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on my 2 new favorite products. This sounds lame, these are my must-haves for summer.

1. Surgi-Wax Brazilian Waxing Kit- I used to Bliss Labs Poetic Waxing but I like this much better and it's only $5. The packaging isn't as fancy as Poetic Waxing-- you only get 1 pre/post epilation oil and the spreaders are basically popsicle sticks. But I think it's much gentler on the bikini area. The wax is creamy and looks and smells like green tea icecream. It also comes in different scents but the green one is my favorite. This wax is microwaveable and much easier to use than Poetic Waxing... when the wax starts getting too thick you just nuke it again instead of waiting to boil more water. Even though it says it's meant for the bikini area, I also used it on my face and it worked great. HIGHLY recommended!'

2.Coppertone Sport Spray Sunscreen- I live in Flordia and lay out a lot so this stuff is amazing. It makes applying sunscreen fun. And the aerosol is much stronger than self-tanners I've used so it's easy to apply to your whole body. I know there are a lot of other brands out there... Neutrogena's Cooling Sunscreen looks pretty nice... but I'm pretty loyal to Coppertone Sport and LOVE this stuff.

3.L'Occiane Artemesia Conditioner- My mom is obsessed with all things L'Occitane and got my this shampoo and conditioner. It's a really nice, light conditioner that works as a great detangler on my super thick hair. It smells nice too... very herb-y but in a good way.

So has anyone else discovered any great products?

thanks for the info on the wax.  i've been wanting to try something new.

the only new thing that i feel very strong about are these make up wipes from trader joe's.  20/$3 or $4.  i can use them to take off my eye make up too because they're so gentle.  i love that they're inexpensive and they smell good too.

Comodynes Oats Formula, Make-up Remover # av120

I 2nd the Coppertone aerosol sunblock!  I used it Saturday out on the boat for the first time and it was a piece of cake to apply.

2.  Shu Uemura Basic Mascara - this stuff rocks.  I have tried a million mascaras in the past year, and every single one flaked, clumped, etc.  This is actually ink that's baked in an oven, which prevents it from being clumpy or flaky.  I it.

Mascara Basic

3. Phyto Phytodefrisant Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm - this isn't new to most of you, but I finally took the advice of all the ST girls and bought this.  It cut down on the time it takes to dry my hair and totally reduces friziness.

Phytodefrisant Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm

4. Nars Chelsea Girls Lacquer - the perfect nude/pink lip gloss.  It's got the consistency of lip balm, not stickly lip gloss Lip Lacquer in Chelsea Girls

5. Matrix Biolage Curl Defining Creme - this stuff is great for enhancing my natural waves w/out leaving them hard & crunchy.

6.  Dove Energy Glow - best subtle tanner I've found.  It smells great, not gross like JNG, and the color develops much faster.

I am in love with the new neutrogena aerosol sunblock - Cooling Mist and the ultra sheer sunblock. You don't even realize its on.

Shopchicago- I've been looking for a new mascara.  Is this one available at sephora?

Yes - that's where I bought mine.  I know Christine bought it there too and loves it.

Yep, I'll have to echo Shopchicago and say that I absolutely love Shu's Mascara Basic (which I found out about thru rave reviews on MUA). It holds the curl from my Shu curler literally all day (while other mascaras, even those that promise to have curling abilities, make it fall flat) without ever clumping or looking spidery, and it makes my lashes look really long. You never need to wipe the brush off before applying it. Love it!!

I also love Mario Badescu's Healing and Soothing Mask. This stuff is magic -- you put a thin layer on your face after washing it and it calms your skin, taking away any redness or blotchiness -- and it lightly moisturizes without breaking you out. It makes me look like I've had a facial after I rinse it off!

Esquiress, can you tell me more about the Kinerase moisturizer? I know you said it absorbs quickly -- would you say it's best for dry, normal, or oily skin? Does it boast any other benefits to skin, besides providing moisture? Thanks!

Rosebud Salve

I don't think this Smith's Rosebud Salve is anything new to most of you, but I just started using it as a lip balm and love it!  I used to use plain old Vaseline and that worked for years but lately I have needed somehting more and this totally fit the bill.  It has a similar consistency and has long staying power.  I wear it alone as well as under other lipsticks and glosses.

I have recently become a huge fan of the Body Shop. Two of my favorites...

Mango body scrub- leaves your skin so soft you don't need a moisturizer after and smells yummy

Brazil nut scrub- so yummy it smells like a moccachino

Also Garnier Fructis Surf Hair spray. For messy beachy hair its a steal at only $5

I just bought Benefit's Dallas blush/bronzer yesterday and so far I really like it. Its very natural for fair-skinned me.

I'm glad for a wax rec...I've decided to wax this year, but I'm so scared of it that it's good to have a recommendation, and at least kind of feel like I'm in control!

The only things I feel strongly about are

Revlon Lash Fantasy

this is the best mascara I have ever used. It makes my lashes so big and long, I'll wear it with lip gloss and feel beautiful

and Bath and Body works skin refining body scrub... which I can't even find on the website now! I stocked up a year ago at a sale, and now I can't find it online... I do hope they haven't discontinued it! Every time I use it someone tells me how soft my skin is

it's supposed to be anti-aging, my best friend's mom got samples of it from her dermatologist and then gave them to us and we all love it! there's two moisturizers, one is a cream and one is a lotion.  the cream is supposed to be for dry skin, the lotion or oily skin.  i tried both on my hand and even though i have dry skin, i like the consistency of the lotion better, but really they're about the same.

Thanks Esquiress! The fact that your bf's mom's dermatologist gave her the samples sounds especially good to me, since I have sensitive skin. I'm going to track it down and give it a try (hey, it can't hurt to start early w/ the anti-aging stuff, right?)

I am currently in LOVE with DermaDoctors KP Duty scrub. While it has helped my KP a little, my skin feels fantastic. My ass and legs have never felt so nice! I use it on my face too (it says it's not recommended, but I just leave it on for a short amount of time, and scrub more lightly) and it feels super good too.

DERMAdoctor KP Duty Dermatologist Body Scrub with Chemical + Physical Medi-Exfoliation

Biolage by Matrix - Conditioning Balm - 8 fl oz

And, I am really loving Biolage Conditioning Balm. It has saved my ends from the havoc I wreck on them. I was using it as a treatment, but now I'm tossing my old conditioner and using just this. It feels a lot like the conditioner tubes you get in at home color kits. It smells nice too, and a little goes a long way.
