So I got this pair of Lanvin slippers at my favorite consignment store. They are from winter 2004 and in a very good, almost perfect condition. I paid 50$ for them.
Pros: I think they are lovely, and I don't have a single pair of ballet flats, and I don't have a single pair of flat going-out shoes.
Cons: I am not sure I have 50$ to spend on shoes now. I am 8 months pregnant and my feet are a bit swollen, so I have no idea how these will fit and look after I give birth. The shoes fit now, but are a little snug. And I hate my feet right now because of the swelling Also, I don't know how much I will wear them after I give birth. Before it would be a no-brainer since I need something like this to go to the opera and symphony (I get student tickets and go quite often). But I know that life will not be the same after birth... I doubt I will go anywhere near the opera in the fall.
I voted return. Your cons are quite valid - the fact they might not fit is a big one (!), and you might not be able to wear them that much. Unless these were absolutely perfect-looking and perfect-fitting I would not keep them. In my opinion, if in the future your lifestyle allows for a pair, you will be able to find something better anyway.

the shoes possibly not fitting after you give birth is a wild card. i'd say return. they're beautiful, but the money seems like the more valuable thing right now.
