What should I take....

to my trip to Mexico?? I was waiting to post about this but then I realized I would be leaving in about 2-3 weeks. I have been there plenty times before and it can get HOT!!! I remember standing in front of the fan with my back facing it so that I could get refreshed.

So with that being said what would you advise me to wear there and on the road? I will be there for about 4-5 days.

TIA!

My current hot-weather faves are jersey skirts, tanks and flip flops. I'm also loving short shorts with wedges. I would also recommend a big but secure bag (for carrying water, sun screen, hat, etc.), since I typically need to put on and take off those items several times a day.

I also try to carry candy and oodles of change b/c I'm a sucker for the kids there who ask for money and sell gum/candy/etc. I usually buy their merch and then give them candy (they appear to love the novelty of U.S. candy, but maybe they're just humoring me, the stupid tourist).

Last but not least, baby wipes! I hate the grimy sweaty feeling and like to swipe off my arms and neck a few times each day.

- Big huge bag you can carry everything around in (preferrably one that zips up..there's more crime down there w/ pick-pockets)
- lots of cool/loose-fitted skirts
- tanks/t-shirts, etc.
- comfy summer dresses you can wear out to dinne
- lots of flip-flops/sandals you can walk around in

Wow a post I can actually help with...I am actually in Mexico right now studing abroad. Depending on where you are going and what you plan on doing I can tell you what I brought and what I wished I'd brought:

I brought 2 pairs of bermudas, 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of long palozzo pants (spelling?) and lots of plain t-shirts from the gap and such (double v-necks, etc.)

I'm wishing I'd brought more skirts and gauchos, and my summer dresses.

I would agree with the others bring all the jersey stuff that has been popular recently.

And the best purchase I made was some comfy walking sandals, like birkies but a little more young.

And yes to the big bag I am always wishing I'd brought a tote with me!

I would also recommend not going for any shorts here shorter than bermudas I have seen only a few people in bermudas and not a one in shorts.

ILC where exactly are you going?

Penquininaboat where are you studying in Mexico? I always wanted to do that!

I was thinking about taking my summer dresses that I have bought recently from F21 and also my gauchos. Should I not take shirts where I have to layer? I am thinking if it will be too hot to be able to do that.

Poptart your comment about the kids who sell candy there on the streets almost made me teary eyed because I am such a sucker for them too and cant stand to see them stand in the hot sun all day. I will def. be taking some American candy.

we'll be in Tulum. Staying at a resort (Dreams) but we plan on leaving quite a bit too. Especially since I checked the weather and it look like rain all next week!

I am in monterrey Mexico at Tec. As far as I would say layering would be ridiculous unless you are use to the heat. Though I do recommend a wrap or jean jacket or something to keep you safe from the intense air conditioning. It has been sunny in the high 90s (usually 35 celsius everyday if not hotter).
