I Want a Balenciaga...
Permalink Closed

...le dix bag. I love this bag, and it's something I'll have to save for, because a four-figure bag isn't exactly in my budget anytime soon. I have been looking at them on eBay but I want a real one, not a knockoff and Balenciaga is one of those brand I'm hesitant to buy on eBay...

Anyone have suggestions, information about fakes, etc? I know I want nickel and not brass hardware, but I've been told that nickel hardware is no longer being used on these bags. Which means I might have to rely on eBay. But are there other places (online or in person) where I might be looking for older versions of this bag, or discounted bags?

Any help would be most appreciated. :)

I don't know if this will help or not, but you might find some info in the Balenciaga section of
The Purse Forum.

definitely check out the fashion spot.. there are about a million posts devoted to balenciaga bags. there is even a separate thread about fakes. it's a little overwhelming to go thru all the info.

i would hesitate to buy off ebay. there are so many fakes out there.

atlgirl, it will be hard to find nickel hardware. ebay is prob your only route. if you need help w/ the ones you find, feel free to pm me. i've have one and can compare pics with mine.

i would stay away from onlines sites unless you know for sure they are authorized dealers. like lv, they are pretty exclusive and you prob wont find them discounted. i would hate for you to end up with a fake one. stay away from bluefly cos alot of people have reported that the balenciaga bags they bought from there are FAKE.

is there a particular color you are looking for?

Thanks, you guys are GREAT. I will check out all recommendations.

kahluamilk, you may have some pms from me in the near future. I'd be thrilled if I could find a good price on eBay...I *don't* want a knockoff. I am willing to pay retail (as I can save up for one) if necessary, but of course a bargain would help the budget greatly. :) I don't have a specific color in mind - but I want something bold, like a red or green maybe...I know that I don't want black or brown. I have a hard time finding bags I like in unusual colors, so since Balenciaga has made these in so many shades, this is a good chance for me to have something different than the standard bag colors. I don't care if this is "out" in the near future (or now) - I want to carry it for a long time, so I'm willing to wait for a color I love.

I know I'm being anal about the hardware. I just like white metals so much better than yellow metals. And as a jewelry person, I really *hate* brass. I make exceptions occasionally (and I will if I have to in this case), but I really like the nickel hardware better. Picky, picky.

p.s. NCshopper, I place the blame for this obsession squarely on your shoulders. I didn't lust after this bag until I picked up that one at the boutique in March...visiting you is very bad for my wallet! :)

Chiming in late, but I wanted to say that I bought a chocolate brown le dix in 2002 & over the last four years, I have SO gotten my money's worth out of it.   It is such a beautiful bag, and I just don't seem to get tired of it.   The quality is great too.  My bag still looks good as new, and it's seen plenty of restaurants, stores, bars, parties, etc. :)
Just as an FYI, there is a boutique here in Chicago called Blake that carries them.  They have red and lavender in stock right now & their sale started this week so they're 20% off!  They do have the brass hardware though.... but just something to consider.  This is a reputable high-end boutique so there would be no concerns about authenticity and for the security you get, you really can't beat that price.
HTH!

Oh dear.  I guess I'll have to take responsibility for this!    Those are nice bags though and I can totally understand being picky about the hardware.  If you're going to drop that kind of money on a bag, it should be perfect.  I can't wait to see what you end up getting!

Thanks, Vanessa, for the extra info. I can't buy right now - will have to save up a bit, even if I decide to go with the brass hardware. But I will save the info about that boutique.

NC, as I recall, you also sparked my obsession with the Secret Love bag. Can't wait to see what I fall in love with on my next visit. :)
