Another LV Speedy Questions

This may be a stupid question, but I'm known for them...

I was looking at used Speedy's on ebay...I love the broken in look...but I'm having a little trouble telling if they're authentic or not...

Does the Speedy 25 or 30 have upside down LV's on one side? I can't find a picture of both sides on eluxury.com...

thanks,

~jahni

Yes, it does have the upside down logo on one side. One continuous piece of canvas is used for the whole body of the bag (except sides), so there are no seams on the bottom of the bag.

I think it might depend on how old it is.  I have a Speedy 35 that my mom carried a long time ago and the LV's are right side up on both sides.  There is a leather seam on the bottom.  It was purchased at NM so it is definitely auth.

You may want to visit mypoupette.com. That's a good site for information. She also recommends ebay sellers who sell real LV.

This question appears on her site:

I see lots of Speedy bags with the LV upside down. Does that mean they are fake?

No. The international Speedy bag is made of one piece of fabric comprising the front, bottom and back. Therefore, the back will appear upside down. Same for Keepalls and a number of other bags.

If you like the worn in look, I would just buy one new and tan it. You can just set it in the sun and it gets that nice golden brown color. Some women use olive oil or other things to darken the leather but I'd be to scared to ruin it that way. I really wouldn't trust buying one on ebay. Also keep in mind that it;s other peoples oil that darkens the leather on used bags. If that does not bother you, as uesgirl said, mypoupette is a great source to find good ebayers that don't sell fake bags. hth!

Thanks everyone for all the info, it's really helped out a lot!

jen...that's a great idea about tanning the bag yourself, that might be a good option for me...I hate it when bags look brand new.
