hi guys, my friend just bought a dress for a wedding.  its white with big turquoise/green flowers all over the dress.  its mainly white in a silky material.  we went out shopping for shoes yesterday and she bought a pair of white leather peep toe shoes.  i know the leather sounds funny with the silky texture of the dress but it doesnt look bad at all.  i need to help her find a clutch/bag to go with the dress but she doesnt want white b/c it might be too matchy, matchy.  she also doesnt want to spend too much, preferably under fifty and something she can use again. any suggestions...?  sorry for the lack of a picture...its not my dress..thanks

Please warn your friend.. One should never wear a WHITE dress to a wedding.  You never want to be the girl upstaging the bride.  I almost bought a white dress and everyone said that was just NOT ok!  I would advise her to return it and get a blue, pink, green, red... any other color besides white!  Seriously!

i have to disagree with lollipop -- while i don't think you should wear an all white dress to a wedding, if it's a print with a white background, i think it's okay for the most part.  i just depends on the bride -- if one thinks the bride is uber-traditional, then maybe not, but if the bride won't mind, then i would say it's perfectly fine. 


i wouldn't care if someone wore white to my wedding, nor would i care if someone wore black.  (as long as they look good in it )  i feel that "traditional" etiquitte rules don't apply across the board anymore.

the dress kinda looks like that....but with less flowers, more white and a cross over front and the flowers are more turquoise/light green

ok, see how that dress has olive too? if this other dress does, I would consider that color in a small bag or clutch.  I think a bag in turquoise or green would work too, but since I can't really see the dress it's hard to determine what would look best. I mean, what if there's yellow in there - it could be cute to do a yellow clutch to pick that up.  I would go to TJ Maxx or Marshalls with the dress in a bag (with her receipt, of course) and see if she can find anything to go with it.


side note: white is a huge trend right now, so white shoes are fairly common.  I think the rule about wearing white to a wedding is wearing ALL white - I don't think the rule is absolutely no white in an outfit.  A floral pattern with a white field should be fine and non-offensive.
