Best way to find a concealer
Permalink Closed

I am genetically predisposed to dark circles I don't wear a lot of makeup as in no foundation - found that the colors don't match up my skintone too well and looks really bad. Recently though I've really been wanting to add a concealer?

What is the best way to find one. My thought was to first try Clinique. Get them to apply it and then walk out and see how it looks over the course of the day? Should I buy it and use it for a couple of days to see that it works on all kinds of days?

Any other favourites you would suggest?

I would recommend going to Sephora and testing a few concealers on your face until you find the best color match you can. Then apply it, leave the store, and see how it looks throughout the day - outdoors, different lighting, etc. See if it creases under the eye or wears off. If it looks good hours later, go back to buy it.

I'll highly recommend Becca's concealer, which is carried at Sephora. It comes in a small round compact and has 2 divided sections inside of the same color -- medium-coverage, for under your eyes; and heavy coverage, for hiding blemishes. I've tried so many concealers and IMO this is by far the best - the rave reviews on MUA convinced me to give it a try. Plus there are a million shades to choose from so you will find an exact match.

I would go to Sephora and try the Becca concealer out. It's really great and covers really well, plus you're prett ymuch guaranteed a perfect color match.

If you live in a major city,  I would try giving Kanebo's pen concealer a shot or YSL Touche Eclat. They're both pens with light formulations so they cover really well without the whole cakey business.

Bobbi Brown also has a similar concealer, comes with two different colors and a powder to set it with -
I've said before, though, and I'll say it again - I always had THE WORST under-eye circles till I started using Dr. Weil for Origins Mega-Mushroom Plantidote Eye Serum. I wish I had known about it for the first 25 years of my life! I can even skip the concealer now !

Yeah - - get recommendations from us and MUA, then try some yourself.

I have to say (again), that I absolutely love Vincent Longo's concealers.

He instructs users to brush on concealer after you have applied foundation so that you don't have to use as much.  Using less, obviously, reduces the chance of cakiness.

I got a free sample of his concealers from a purchase on Beauty.com or Sephora.com.  Awesome because there are a bunch of different colors, and I could mix them for the perfect shade.

The sample I got is available on eBay right now for $1.99 (huge deal, considering how much regular price is)  #370081207744

I think this is the video in which VL gives concealer instructions (makeup in general).

Why don't you try something like Eye Bright from Benefit? I've found that no concealer really covers my purple rings but when I layer this over a regular concealer it really makes the difference:
