I've had bronchial pneumonia for the last couple of weeks, so it came as a total shock. One of the first times I had been able to go out at night, and he proposed.
Here is the story with the assistance of emoticons:
He caught me completely off guard. He had actually wanted to propose the night before, but I had gotten really sick, and wanted to stay home. He had a romantic night planned, but isn't that how it always goes!
He talked me into going to see a fireworks show at a co-worker's house the next night. We were having such a great time and it was one of those perfect warm nights. He asked me to take a picture so we would have fireworks in the background. When we got to the top of a hill to have our picture taken, he turned me towards him and said he had to talk to me. I kept turning towards the people taking the picture because they were waiting there with the camera, and I wasn't paying any attention to what he said.
He drops down on one knee and pulled out a small box. My head just started spinning and I didn't hear or comprehend anything he was saying. I had fallen in love with an antique ring several years ago, but it had been sold. Inside the box was a replica of the ring, but with the most perfect cushion cut diamond He had to ask me if I was going to say yes! I was like, "YEAH!" Someone yelled, "Put on the ring!" Thank goodness, because it kinda snapped me out of my stupor and I took the ring and put it on.
I got so dizzy I had to go sit down on the ground lol. Needless to say, we missed the entire fireworks show. But we do have some awesome pictures with them exploding in the background.
My best friend had told me she couldn't remember anything her fiance had said when he proposed. I couldn't believe she would forget something so important, but now I know! I couldn't even really remember him asking me to be his wife at the time I asked him later that night if he would pretend he was asking me again, so I could remember what he said. He was so sweet and romantic about it
