I am in the process of losing weight and I'm looking for some pants that will transition well through a couple of sizes. Drawstring or something adjustable would be great. I'm open to skirts, as well- maybe even a dress or two. Also, keeping the cost pretty low is key, I want to save my money for when I hit my goal - a size 4.
I've been searching, but haven't been able to find anything great. At this point I am open to almost anything- nothing too cutesy, though.
I'm afraid that I don't have any recommendations for drawstring clothing. However I just wanted to offer a little advice. I lost 30lbs last year and the drawstring cargo pants that I had (and loved!) began to look way too baggy and shapeless pretty soon after I started losing. You may want to consider buying a couple of cheapie pairs of pants that will get you through your transition sizes. I started as a size 10 and bought 2 pairs of size 8's at Target when the 10's became way too baggy. I got a good run out of them and when I hit hit my goal weight and could buy even smaller sizes I didn't feel bad about getting rid of them. If you wear dress pants with a belt you can definitely get away with wearing them longer than you may think.

I would hit up Target, Old Navy, maybe the sales at Gap for cheaper bottoms and then invest in a few cute belts. Belts will work for you for a few sizes- especially if you get one thats on the tighter side now- and will let you get an extra size or two out of the pants as well.
another trick for the shapeless problem is to buy more things that have their own shape- thicker cottons and whatnot. I find that full skirts work well for this too. Things that are stretchy/tighter-fitting will look too big long before something that has its own shape.
I agree with what the others are saying. Target and Old Navy are good for cheap work clothes (hell, I get my clothes there). Old Navy has basic neutral work pants with a lot of stretch for $24.50 or so that will work well with a belt when they get a little too big.
As far as skirts go, you can buy them smaller to fit your natural waist, and then as you lose weight they will slowly start falling closer to your hips (like where low-rise pants sit). At least that's what happens with my body shape.

Thank you for the ideas, everyone. I appreciate it. Any links to actual things would be great, too.
Elle, thank you for posting pictures! I need more, for sure! I like the first dress, but wrap style things tend to make one breast look a million times larger than the other one. I will have to try more on tomorrow. I'm going to H&M, so hopefully they'll have some decent things- I'll hit some other stores while there, also.
I like the last dress, nice and simple. I'll have to check out the other stuff at AE. Usually not my style, but it's worth a shot. Thank you!
