black tie wedding challenge

you've just received an invitation to a "black tie optional" wedding taking place at 6pm at the end of june at a mansion in newport. your husband (or boyfriend, date, whatever) has opted to wear the tux that he owns.


what do you wear?


what i really should be asking is "what should *i* wear" (since this is my current dilemma!) BUT i'm looking to see how all of you would realistically dress for this ocassion at this location with your actual budget (the black tie optional invite did not, unfortunately, come with a red carpet worthy budget included in the envelope - hehe).


i'd love to see what you all would wear - dresses only or if you feel creative, entire ensembles. :)

I would want full length (of course - you all know how I am on this subject) but something somwhat modest and not too eveningish (no sequins)  I'm partial to vintage feels, so I thought this was pretty and appropriate (I also think it would look fabulous on you, smash, especially with your hair) - A.B.S. on sale at bluefly for $169...

i have this dress, so i'd probably just wear it...


(the back lays nicer)


this picture is from ebay.  just an FYI if you like it, it runs really big so definitely size way down. 


i would also do a vintage clutch (maybe beaded).

i haven't worn a long dress since college formals, so perhaps a nice new long dress is in order, especially following detroit's philosophy. ;)


right now i am absolutely in love with this one - i am so sad that it's $550. :(



teal is definitely my color, so i love all of those. i think i definitely have a hard decision ahead! my husband is so dashing in his tux that i'm worried i won't be able to put together something up to par.
