So I envy the girls at my gym, all of whom seem to have adopted Hardtail as the preferred brand of yoga pants for everything. I can't ever find them on sale, and I can't swallow the idea of spending the full price (around $60ish) on yoga pants. But I tried them on and I can see why girls are always wearing them. I have a $30% for the shop at my gym, which is selling them for $64...with the 30% off coupon and after tax it would come out to $48.50.
Should I get them?
Please note, I am on a shopping ban, or diet more or less. I feel really guilty about it, but I do need pants that don't fall down while I'm doing yoga and pilates and all that fun stuff.
For me, I always hit the clearance rack at stores for my yoga pants, so I'd say no. I'm of the mindset that I can't spend a lot of money on clothes I'm going to sweat profusely in.
I'm unfamiliar with Hard Tail. What's so great about them?

Apparently they keep their color, shape and form after multiple washings, plus the elastic foldover band is pretty heavy duty. Not something I can say about the Target/Old Navy stuff I've been wearing to the gym.
I have 2 pairs of the hardtail pants and I don't wear them very often because I feel like the fabric is a little too lightweight. So if I'm not having a great butt day, I feel like I don't look good in them.
I'm actually a huge fan of the Old Navy yoga pants...the ones in the sort of microfiber material. They are really supportive and keep their shape - and they're like $25.
I say yes but since you're on a shopping ban, only get them if you really think they will function better and not just to fit in with the other girls at the gym (not that you would, but just in case).

I would also give the ones from Gap a chance. They are $39.50 and they wear well and have lasted numerous washing and wears. Honestly like them better then Hard Tail and they are cheaper.
also comes in capri length

I haven't try hardtail yoga pants before... but nuala and nike yoga pants are good too. I would say if you promise yourself to do more yoga then get them.
I also like the yoga pants from Old Navy. They were on sale when I bought them too, so I think they were like $20 each, and they've held up very well this year.
You know, I have them and like them - they are definitely flattering on the behind. But, I also got them on sale. I think they are good but not great quality. So, if you work out a lot and really like pretty workout clothing, I think they are worth it, but if you could care less about how you look when you work out, you could save money for some more fun clothes not for the gym.
lilykind- i swear i have seen hard tail at my tj maxx or marshalls... i know b/c i didn't know the brand- liked the pants... but wasn't sure if they were decent or not. so i never bought them.
however, i buy a lot of my yoga pants at Dick's Sporting Goods on the clearance racks. i just can't bring myself to spend a lot of money on my clothes for the gym... (although i didn't mind spending $50 on one of my yoga mats... but i digress)
if you think you would absolutely love them- buy one pair and see how you feel...
I would totally purchase them esp. since you're not paying full price. These are pants that you would not only wear to yoga or work-out in, but they are the perfect lounging pants, running errands on a weekend morning, etc... and they are FLATTERING. You will regret not getting them... trust me.
I have some Hardtail stiff - although not the yoga pants - and I do agree they seem to wash an wear well. I agree - the Target stuff just does NOT hold up well. I did get a pair of yoga pants from VS many many years ago - and now due for a new one. Those are about $40 too - so I say if you want to get the Hardtail with the discount seems pretty good.
On another brand - around here and S.M. all the girls seem to be really into Lululemon - which is sooo expensive - may be inspired to ask for advice on that too.
