I just read that Brooke Sheilds had her baby today.  So did Tom and Katie.  Kind of bizarre, considering all the hoopla earlier between Tom and Brooke.

did you guys hear that Tom was gonna eat the placenta?  he said it sounded "very nutritious" and also that it helps with "post-delivery depression."

so it's not actually true then?  i didn't read the article, my husband just read me some of the weirdest quotes.  it didn't actually occur to me that he would say that just to see if the gossip rags would print such ridiculous things.

Um, eating the placenta is still 'done' in some circles/areas.  It can help stop uterine bleeding in the mother and has been said to help depression/exhaustion in the MOTHER.  I don't think ol' Tommy boy is going to be reaping the benefits though!


Some people also have the placenta dried and made into caplets, or freeze it, or plant it in the ground with a new tree. 


Can't said I'd ever do it myself though!

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.    That is by far the grossest thing I've heard all day.

He said in that Primetime special that it wasn't true. He said that he had said it in the other interview jokingly. I don't really see the humor in it though.

that is a good cover, saying that he only said it to get a reaction.  that is what i would say too if i were a lunatic.
