Hee hee. I already did this once today let's try again.... * who is your BFF? How long have you known her? * I know you got eloped to some extent & had your "reception" at Wendy's including a Frosty (which I think is uber cool by the way!) - did your family know or did you literally run off? And what did they say about your decision about the type of wedding you had? * do you like scary movies? If so what is your fav kind?

If you could trade places for one day with any celebrity, who would it be? Hmmm...it'd have to be someone not super famous, so I could still be rather anonymous, but with enough money so that I could do a bunch of cool stuff. Maybe someone like Maggie Gyllenhall or something like that.
What is your guilty pleasure song? Oh, I have a few. Kiss by Prince is good, as is Spinning Around, by Kylie Minogue.
What is the best tear-jerker movie you have ever seen? The first that comes to mind is Finding Neverland. I HATE crying at movies in front of DH, but I was like almost sobbing in that movie. Oh, and also Titanic. So embarrassing, but when my best friend and I saw it in high school, we had to wait like 10 minutes after the movie was over, just so we could continue sobbing. (That is so embarrassing to admit, by the way!)
* who is your BFF? How long have you known her? My bff lives in CA still. She's the coolest. We're not really alike, well, at all, but we have the BEST time together. We can go weeks without talking to each other and pick up right where we've left off. I've known her since birth, pretty much, so we've been friends for oh, 24 years or so! We went to pre-school together and I lost my first tooth on the way to her house. My life wouldn't be the same without her because so much of my childhood is tied to her and her family. She's like my parents' second daughter.
* I know you got eloped to some extent & had your "reception" at Wendy's including a Frosty (which I think is uber cool by the way!) - did your family know or did you literally run off? And what did they say about your decision about the type of wedding you had? Well, DH and I had been engaged for a year and still hadn't made any wedding plans, so right after Christmas 2003, we just decided to make it official, so we went down to the court house and got married. We didn't know you had to have two witnesses, so I found some guys in the elevator and they were our witnesses. Afterwards, we went to a bar, had a beer, and then went to Wendys. We didn't tell a soul we were doing it, so everyone was surprised. I just called my parents up the next day and told them and they were super cool with it. My dad did the whole "congratulations" thing and then said "You just saved us so much money!" Hahahaha! But they were cool and as a result of not having a wedding, they helped us out a lot with the house.
* do you like scary movies? If so what is your fav kind? I actually HATE scary movies. I'm the biggest. wuss. ever. I can't even watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer on TV cuz I get too scared.
How did you meet your hubby? DH and I met at Starbucks in San Diego. I was home for the summer and went in to say hi to my brother, who was working there. DH was his boss. I knew within about a week that he was it. We didn't get together until a few months later, but I knew it right away. It was weird.
What do you do for a living? I'm do research for a non-profit, non-partisan research organization. I love what I do most of the time, but I'm toying around with the idea of getting out of politics altogether. As much as it's fascinating, it gets really ugly.
What's your dream job? Hmmm....either interior designer, or makeover consultant. I'm thinking interior design might be my next move, but who knows. Makeover person would be really cool, but I don't think I'd be stimulated enough.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Oh gosh, just one? Then probably Brisbane, Australia. I lived there for a semester in college and LOVED it. Coolest city in the world.
Do you have any pets, if so, what kind? Unfortunately, no. DH used to have a gun, and I put my foot down on bringing it out to NC when he moved here. So he said "Fine, then no cats." The gun was my non-negotiable and a cat was his. So we have no cat. As much as I'd love to adopt one, a deal is a deal.
favorite food? Hmmm....oh gosh, it's all so dependent on my mood. But generally any mood calls for a cheese enchilada, beef taco, and beans and rice combo platter. With a cold beer.
favorite purchase? Does my house count? Then my house. If that doesn't count, then my red heels that I got earlier this year may be right up there.
favorite thing to shop for? Uhh...everything! Shirts, skirts, dresses, shoes, purses, house stuff, makeup....geez, I could go on and on!
style icon? I think Catherine Zeta-Jones. I love that she always looks classic, classy, and put together. She has a very womanly figure, but never looks slutty and she doesn't always have her assets on display (ahem! Hale Berry!!! )
most embarrasing moment? there's a lot.
What is your favorite book and why? Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. It's just a great story and Marquez is an AMAZING storyteller.
Who is your least favorite relative? My step-grandmother was AWFUL. She was so bad. She told me I had always been "a selfish little girl" on the day of my grandfathers funeral. In front of the whole family. I was 22. I never saw her again after that and we heard she died this past fall. It was the first time that someone I had known had died that I wasn't sad about. Weird feeling. Everyone else in my family is really cool and there's not a bad one in the bunch.
If you could play any sport in the world professionally what would it be? Does ping-pong count? It's the only sport I'm good at. I'm not athletic AT ALL.
What's your favorite thing to do on a rainy/snowy day? Hmmm...we don't get too many snowy days here and when it rains alot, it tends to be in the summer when it's hotter than hell. But on a nice cold rainy/snowy day, I love to have a fire in the fire place, a glass of wine or port, a good book, and if I'm feeling in the mood, I'll bake something tasty. So cliche, but it's really just the best to sit by the fire with a good book and a glass of wine. :)
On a warm/hot day? Either work in the yard if it's not too hot, or if it's super hot, be in the lake at my parents' condo outside Charlotte.
If you could have a $5,000 clothing and accessories shopping spree at only ONE store, which would it be?? Probably Nordstrom just because they have it all. I'm also tempted to say Banana Republic or Anthro, but Nordies has the shoe department and good accessories AND makeup, so yeah, Nordies.
Edited to take out pet question that was already asked. I saw your post earlier and just didn't get around to answering it. I did have pets growing up. Lucy, our old dog was the coolest dog ever and she'd yawn on demand and make a really high pitched, weird noise when she did it. Josie and Britt were my two cats. Britt's the only one left and my brother takes care of her now.
What kind of car do you drive? My 1997 Green Honda Civic. I got it when I was in high school and it's still the best. I love her. Her name is Betty.
How would you define your home decorating style? Hmm...besides messy? I'd say it's warm and eclectic. I don't want to be defined by just one style because I think I'd get tired of it. So I generally try to keep the house feeling warm and cozy and inviting. It's also rather classic, but not traditional. I'll post some pics when I get a chance, cuz I think our house is kinda cute.
What's your favorite flower? Gerber daisies. I think they just a happy flower.
any siblings? Yes, I have two half brothers. One just turned 40 (!!!) and the other one is 37. Since I'm 25, I didn't really spend a lot of time with them growing up, but we're pretty close now. They're totally different and I can see a lot of them in me and vice versa. They're fun.
where did you grow up? Outside of San Diego, CA. The best place ever to grow up.
did you go to college? If so, did you like it? Yes siree, Bob! I got me one of those edumacations! Yeah, I loved college. I went to Wake Forest Univ. and I had a GREAT time. I got to study abroad, join a sorority, all that typical college stuff. It was a blast.
favorite movie? Oh geez. I'm going to have to say The Motorcycle Diaries. Everything about it is just wonderful.
favorite thing in your closet? I imagine this would be like asking a mom to pick their favorite child. I have no idea. I like a lot of my stuff. I have a few pieces of jewelry that are really really special to me, so I might have to go with those.
favorite accessory? My grandmother's ruby ring. She passed away when I was 5 and willed the ring to me. My mom's fell in love with it and has worn it the past 20 years, so I finally got it this year. It's totally different than everything else I own--ornate, big, lots of prongs, very feminine--but it's gorgeous and I love that I'm wearing something that was so special to her.
best bargain you've ever gotten? Hands down--I scored a Nanette Lepore dress for free once. My mom is friends with a boutique owner and I went in there and saw the dress on sale. I had eyed the dress before for months. The lady just said "You like it? Take it!" Sweet!!!
best money ever spent? I think my Frye Harness boots. I have a feeling I'll have them 20 years from now.
favorite thing to do on a Saturday afternoon? Read on the back deck with a beer.
dream vacation? Taking DH to Australia with me. 1) because I love it there and 2) because it would be really great to show him all the places that are special to me and see him enjoy it for himself.
favorite magazine? InStyle. I've always liked Lucky, but I find it disappointing now. I'm also loving Elle Decor and domino since I'm in home decorating mode.
