Changes in restaurants or stores?
Permalink Closed

I was just wondering if a restaurant or store you always went to changed owners and the place totally changed for the better or worse?

Yesterday I was all excited to go to my favorite Chinese restaurant.  I knew something was up when I saw a fountain at the entrance and fresh cut tulips at each table.  The menu was different, no egg foo young, no won ton soup, no chow mein!  It seemed more too resemble choices you get at the China Express in malls.  The food came awfully fast and it did look like that crap you get at the mall.  Egg flower soup was good, but no crackers.  The egg roll was disgusting, not freshly prepared.  The fried rice was not, it was sticky rice.  The sweet and sour was good though.  Beef broccoli, yuk.  At least they still gave out fortune cookies, but I will never go back.

This is not the first time a change took place in a Chinese retaurant.  The one my family used to go to had an indoor koi pond, Chinese music, real linens, beautiful lanterns and delicious food.  A few years ago new owners changed everything.  Cheap paper lanterns, paper napkins, no tablecloth, the only music was from the bar on the other side of the restaurant (soft rock) , and the food wasn't the same.  We have not been back!
