Georgia anyone?

My parents are looking for a home in Georgia and my dad has been looking in the area of Athens. They don't want to go much farther south than Athens. Any suggestions on other cities to look at?

I've never been to Savannah and don't know how big it is - but it always seems like such a cool place.

What are they looking for in a town?  near mountains?  lake?  suburban or more of its own city? 


I would suggest they look at Madison.  Its a little south of Athens and east of Atlanta.  It is an adorable small town with cute shops and restaurants.  There are lots of old classic southern homes there.  It was named one of the best small towns in the nation but I'm not sure who produced that list.

They don't really have anything in particular that they are looking for. My dad has become a crotchety old man and doesn't want to be in Michigan during the cold.


I guess they like the idea of Athens becaue it is its own city. My dad likes that it is a college town with activies and places to go.


I will suggest Madison. Thanks!

like Pepper said, Savannah is nice too.  Its much further south than Athens and its a little pricey to live in the desirable parts of town.  There are some cute small towns in the North Georgia mountains, it just depends on how big of a town they want.
