Updated: Warning About Ordering From Victoria's Secret Online
Permalink Closed

This week I had a bad experience with Victoria's Secret online. Yesterday, I went to check my bank account online, and I noticed a $99.95 charge from something called VS Escapes. I didn't know what it was, and the last time I had ordered VS was in Feburary, so this charge came over a month later. I did some research online about VS Escapes and apparently if you order from VS online and you answer some questions after you place an order, VS will automatically sign you up for some stupid travel deals, aka VS Escapes. Apparently, if you do not cancel before the deadline (which they don't tell you they signed you up for,) they will assume you want the service and charge you $99.95. Below is a link I found and how other people have fallen victim to this program. I called VS and bitched them out for signing me up for something I didn't authorize. They said they would refund my money, however it was going to take a few days. I wll let you know if they do refund my account next week. From reading the link, not everyone who was charged $99.95 found getting a refund very easy. A warning for all, be careful ordering online from VS. Apparently this is a NEW thing they do. I've ordered from them a long time ago and didn't have a problem, not until this last time. See link below for other customer complaints. VS Escapes Edit: Here's another link: VS Escapes 2

I had the same thing happen to me.  I had no problem getting my money back though. It’s a bit shady of them maybe if enough people complain they wont do it anymore.

Wow.  That is awful!!!  Especially coming from, what I think, is a very reputable retailer.  Thanks for the heads up!

That's really terrible. It seems like it should be illegal or something. I'm surprised they can get away with that sort of thing. I'm sure it will stopped if enough people complain.

That's horrible! I ordered from them early March and I remember that VS escapes thing popping up and then I just put that I wasn't interested. I got my bank statement last March and there were no charges made, maybe because I paid with my VS Angels card? Did you pay for your order with your debit/credit card? Anyway, thanks for the heads up.

I used a debit/credit card. However some people did use their Angel card and specifically said "NO" I'm not interested. Then a month or so later they got a charge.

I don't think this happened to me, but I don't always know what my charges on a VS CC are in busy-buying months.  They could have sneaked that in there without me even noticing.  I'm going to check my bills for the last year and in the meantime sent them this email:

You should be ashamed of yourselves for getting involved with a scam on your customers through your "Escapes" affiliate program.  This program has been flagged by BBB and Consumer Affairs as a scam and I was shocked to find that Victorias Secret has been a partner in the scam.  You may check my records to find that I have shopped online and via catalog with you on a regular basis in the past; I will no longer shop with you as a result of what I consider to be apalling and illegal business practices.  Sincerely, Drew

That is really scary and disturbing! I am going to email them as well.

They are getting greedy I guess.  One thing I loathe is sneaky tricks to take our money.  Thanks for the info, I don't think I will be purchasing anything from them anymore.

A bit of advice for everyone. If you have ordered from VS and notice that they charged you for the VS Escapes, call VS directly. Do not call the VS Escapes program, they are rude and will be hesitant to give you your money back. And an update: I was refunded my $99.95 back over the weekend. Woo Hoo! Now I will never order from VS online ever again!!
