I need helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllppppppppppppppppppppppppppp! Badly!
So, my dad's birthday was yesterday and DH and I are going to see him and my mom this weekend to celebrate his bday and Easter. I have NO idea what to get my dad. The man has everything he could possibly need and doesn't really enjoy frivolous stuff. He's into fishing, boating, home improvement projects, cars, and stuff. He was a pilot, so he's into planes, flying, and anything that has an engine, basically.
But despite all of his interests, the man is impossible to shop for. We got him some binoculars a few years ago and those were a big hit, but now I just have no idea.
Any ideas? Puh-puh-puh-leeeeeeease????
Oh, and I'd love to get him a subscription to Netflix or National Geographic or something, but he and my mom split their time between Charlotte and San Diego, so subscriptions are kind of out.
If he doesn't already have one, what about a GPS device for his car? They have gone down in price signficanlty the past few years. Still not cheap but more reasonable. Or what about tickets to some sort of sports event, if he's into sports.
I can sympathize. I still feel cheap and unoriginal for his last b-day gift (a gc from his coffee shop).
My mom and dad used to have an antique business on the side, and they still collect. My dad likes historical memorabilia, such as stuff from the 40s and 50s from the city he grew up in, etc.
I know you said your dad was a pilot. I remember my parents always selling vintage airline/airplane collectibles:
Just an idea. I live around the corner from two antique malls, and I know stuff like this is relatively common.
I don't know if you could do this in your area, but I know around here they have deep sea fishing trips. Maybe since he likes fishing he would enjoy that. Then you could just get him a little fishing kit or something for him to unwrap on his birthday with the IOU a fishing trip inside.
