I have a pair of jeans that I just got in the mail. I really like the way they fit throughout the legs/butt area, but the rise on them is so high! They are not low rise like they're supposed to be. They hit just above my belly button. If I were to take them to a tailor, could they make them low rise or am I being an idiot?

theoretically it would be possible (take out the zipper, hack off the top a bit, replace with shorter zipper and refinish top, right?) but that would be a LOT of work so I bet if they would do it it would cost a small fortune.

I've seen it listed as a procedure macy's will do but I can't remember the cost quote they had in the dressing room so I know its possible.
