It is sitting waiting to be read...I am still slogging through The Memoirs of Cleopatra, which is actually pretty good aside from the fact that it's the Book That Won't Ever End! I am going to try to push through it this weekend and start Atonement next week.

I'm about 6 chapters in & I'm curious - I have no clue as to where it is going. I'm not to a point that I just can't bear to put it down, but it's good....

I had to bump this up so you guys know what a moron I am. I started reading the book last night and I was having major deja vu. By the end of the 2nd chapter, I realized that it was because I have read this already! I think I read it when it first came out.

I will re-read it though, because I don't remember much about it aside from the basic plot. And I can't even return the book now, because I already sent my packing slip to Amazon with the other book I returned.

Don't feel bad Halleybird. I did that with Jude the Obscure. I was like, why do I know that everyone is going to die in this book? Oh yeah. I already read it and hated it the first time.

As for me, I got the book at the library (huh? huh? ) last week so I'm starting it. Hopefully I'll get into it substantially today. Here's to hoping!

I read it last year and really liked it - it's slow for a little while with the girl and the play and whatever, whatever... but then all of a sudden it picks up and there's a huge twist at the end. I don't want to give anything away, but when you read this part, you[ll think it's one thing, and at the end, you'll realize it might have been something totally different... It's all about playing with perception and rewriting your personal history so the way it's done is really clever.

I read it when it first came out and basically forgot most of the plot so I am re-reading it. It is tough going though, I'll stick with it but while I have flickers of memory...I am not enthralled.

I'm glad to hear this because I'm really over the whole play thing.....

Well, I fully inteded to pick it up.  I even drove to Barnes and Noble instead of ordering it online because I wanted to get started right away.

BUT, I was distracted by a book I ran across: Bitter is the New Black.  I've been reading it instead...and I definitely recommend it to everybody!  It is hilarious...I posted about it in general chat a while back.

So, now that I got it out of my system...I am going to go get Atonement and read it.  However, with finals approaching...I may not ever get it done.  I may have to catch you on the next book.
