My mask dried out

I have a really expensive facial mud mask that I must have left the cover off a little bit. Well, sadly, enough air must have gotten in and it dried out. It's hard as rock now. Can I still use it? I'm pretty sure if I run it under warm water it'll probably loosen up a little...but I don't want to use something on my face that might have gone bad. What do you think? TIA

I've done that for years with mud or clay-based masks and never had a problem.
