More group project ranting.

Research paper assigned well over a month ago.


4 subtopics, 3 members.  Boys get 1 each, I get 2.


Outline due.  Boys plaigiarize (sp?) their outlines.


Rough draft due.  I tell boys to do intro and conclusion because I had two topics.  Boys ignore simple request.


One week til final draft due.  I tell Boy #2 to email me his part so I can work on revisions.  Boy forgets up until last night where he sends it at 11:30.


Paper due tomorrow.  Intro, thesis, conclusion yet to be written (by me of course).

Oh girl I was there for a few projects and it sucks.  I would definetly turn them in for the plagerizing part.  I had to do that on one of my projects because me and the other girl stayed in the computer lab for 2 straight days at school and could not finish the project we were working on.  We had a nice teacher who was cool about it and gave us an A and the other 2 guys - I don't know what they got but it wasn't good.

They didn't do it for the whole project, just the outline.  It just bugged me because I actually spent time on it even though I think outlines are pointless.  Plus, it's not like they're random dudes, I see them all the time.


Your group sounds bad.  At least your teacher gave the grades in a fair manner.

I can add my recent group project rant... and how much I hate them!!


Am taking my first accounting course this quarter... Im in grad school for my Doctor of Pharmacy, taking accounting as an elective, and never had a business course in my life.  First day of class we get assigned groups, which we will be working in the rest of the quarter and we get assigned our first project.  Well the three other people in my group are not very efficient nor interested in doing work or trying.  The one girl continually asks me "is this right, should i do this, does this sound ok, what do you think, do you think its ok..." basically totally dependent on me coming up with all the ideas and information.  The guy in my group, complete slacker, did not contribute one measely word to the entire project, just sat there.  And the third guy is ok, has some intelligence, but works 80 hours a week on top of full time school, so you can only imagine.


Any other time I wouldn't mind this as much, but come on! its my first business class ever, and i have no clue what im doing either.  So needless to say, the first project was pretty much completed by, yours truely!!  Errrr... this is going to be a long quarter!

i agree jess you didn't have it as bad but just don't ever be scared to turn people in for not doing their job especially in college when these projects could be half your grade.

Group projects are awful...I HATE THEM...There is always someone you need to pick up the slack for. I had a class where the whole class was a semester long paper/presentation. It was a terrible long and hard assignment, my group would meet at least 20 hours a week to work on it. One kid never showed up, never contributed, and wanted to do the presentation with us so he showed up to do it the day we were presenting.  We made him sit down, We didn't let him take any credit
