Question about boots

Are you thinking long boho skirts or short denim skirts?

I know exactly what you mean - I'd probably rock this look elsewhere but I'm really self concious about doing it in Texas. There are too many "real" cowgirls here.

Not short denim skirts, for sure. I could never make those work. Some boho skirts and some skirts like this (which I'm wearing today):

i've been waffling about that look for some time myself , and i actually did pick up those ones at target (just to put them down again, but still)

i think that pair would be a great way to try it out and see if you like it, if you do then go ahead and get an "investment" pair, does that make sense? i think that's what you meant anyway.

in short, my answer is yes, get them and try it :)

being from georgia, i'm also conscious of looking a little too hick in cowboy boots. i like the look with skirts and i don't think its too redneck. i want to rock my boots with jeans and a t-shirt but that makes me worry i look like a hick. i limit my boots to outfits with skirts.

go for the target boots, they are cute.

I have those boots! I mostly wear them to country concerts because I'm secretly a hick . But I also wear them with jeans when I feel like mixing it up. I don't think I would do them with an overly boho skirt but I think there are some skirts that would look good with them. I think as long as you keep it pretty simple it won't look fashion victim-y.

As for the boots, I love them. I have smaller calves and they actually fit really well, look great, and give me some height without being heels. The quality's pretty good too (not like super or anything, but pretty good for Target).

You girls have convinced me. I'm going to try the pair from Target and at least see how I like them. I'll take them home and then spend a few hours trying on clothes to see how they go. (Does anyone else do this?) I'm excited just thinking about it!

Hi, I'm in CA right near Hollywood so the cowboy boot thing is still all over the place but for the same reasons some of you listed, I resisted. I wandered into a Boot Barn one day and from the second I had a "real" pair on, I was hooked. They are AMAZINGLY comfortable and come in lots of different styles, some more Western looking than others. I like the Durango slouches (which aren't as pricey as most) for styling reasons but also for fit.

If you LOVE the way you look in the boots, maybe consider putting the Target boot money towards an awesome pair that you'll love for years? I think that you could get a great pair of boots for around a hundred bucks or so and you'll have them long after the Targets bite the dust (manmade boots in particular can be AWFUL to wear more than an hour) Just a thought.

I agree...I would suggest you buy an authentic pair of cowboy boots. They will not look too trendy, and real cowboy boots look better, fit better, and honestly never go out of style! I wear mine with shorts, under and over jeans, dresses, and skirts. Yes I"m in TX, but believe it or not, not everyone is a cowgirl. I certainly am not, but get tons of compliments since I got my first pair about 3 years ago. Here's a link to a FANTASTIC little boot store just south of Austin in Wimberly, TX. this is the best boot store I"ve ever been to. All vintage boots, in every imaginable size. And the owner is extremely knowledgeable! She will blow you away.

Hmmm... maybe I'll head to Allen Boots this weekend and try some better ones on, just to see. I'm just so unsure at this point that I'm not certain I'm willing to plunk down the change (even if it is only $100) for shoes I don't know if I'll get a lot of use out of. I'll go try both kinds on - cheapies and nicer - and see how I feel after that.
