madras pants?

saw these in the latest bloomies catalog last night and was oddly drawn to them...

i'm thinking that they could potentially be something fun/different for this spring. i guess with heavily patterned pants though, one always runs the risk of looking like she's wearing pajamas...


perhaps i'm just thinking back fondly to the madras shorts from jcrew that i had circa 1994. ;)

I absolutely love anything Madras.


I have a blazer from last year that I will continue to wear at least once a week this spring/summer!


What is the material on these? I am envisioning linen and that would be cool.


If they are just cotton, they may look like PJs.


I think you could find ways to make it work no matter what though. How much are they?

When I read the title I thought, Ut oh... but those pants are SO cute!  I love them.  I can see the pajama thing though.  Maybe if they had distinctive front pockets or something.  I dunno, I think you could make it work with the right top and accessories.  At any rate, they get my vote!

jocey - they are linen. i think that does help with the pj problem a bit. i'm glad to see another fan of madras! i was sooooo preppy back in high school (when everything i owned was from jcrew) and those shorts were my absolute favorite thing.


they aren't terribly priced, especially for linen pants, but i might wait until they go on sale.


everyone keep your eyes open for other options out there. :)

Hi Smash -- I got the same Bloomies catalogue as you, and I think I saw a mention of an on-line sale the first or second week of April -- so keep your eyes peeled for that.


The pants are cute, but they are uber preppy! I don't have any patience for linen, but they look like they'd be nice and cool for July and August!

cute.  maybe you could do sort of a resort look like the model in pic? a really body-conscious tank to offset the fluidity of the pants, and stacked bangles/bracelets, strappy gold or red heeled sandals, headband in hair.  you wear things in your hair really well.

smash, i think those are really cute. they remind me of some i got from limited years ago which i LOVED, and people made fun of me for them, but not exactly the kind of people i'd be taking fashion advice from anyway :)


my mom didn't like them, and they *strangely* disappeared on a trip home ...
