I know from past posts that many of you have tattoos. I'm thinking about getting one on that squishy part next to my pelvic bone, but I'm kind of freaking a little. Has anyone had any problems getting a tattoo or side effects from the ink or scarring or anything like that?
I don't have any tattoos but my cousin has several. She never had any problems until her last one. Its red and her body rejected the red ink. She later learned that if you have any problems with a color in a tattoo, its most likely to be red. I would be careful if you are getting one thats colorful because of that.
I have one there and I love it!!! Of corse it hurt getting it, but that will be anywhere! It scabbed and was red for maybe a week, but that's it. Also, they told me I couldn't get red or orange or pink because I am alergic to penicylian (sp?) I don't know what the two have to do with eachother, but I just wanted to be safe so mine is blue black and green.
I have three and I have never had any healing problems. I have one in the pelvic bone area that I've had for 13 years and it still looks great.
One thing to keep in mind if you are considering a tattoo in that area is that if you should ever get pregnant, the tattoo will stretch out and probably not fully recouperate to its original appearance.

I thought about the pregnancy thing, too. I'm hoping that if I got it low enough, it wouldn't be impacted by my expanding belly. However, being that I've never been pregnant, I don't know exactly where to get it so that it would be free from stretching.
To answer all of the color questions. It's just going to be a simple black tattoo. No other colors.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if you have one and ever need a medical scan (like MRI) that the tat gets reallllly warm while they're scanning you. It bothers some people more than others, though, so while it's not something that's bad enough to keep you from getting one, it's something to be prepared for.
