How to keep my white purse clean?

I fell in love with this purse this weekend & I got it - really it's more than I've spent on a purse - well, ever. I know isn't crap compared to what some of you girls spend, but a lot for me. It's Maxx NY& was $190 on sale for $79. The leather is so soft & it has the prettiest soft pink silky lining, perfect size, great pockets - sigh (still trying to make myself ok spending that much). So I don't even want to take it out of the plastic bag I have it in for fear of getting it dirty, but I intend to carry it as my primary summer bag. What can I do? Can I scotchguard it? Something else?


And just because here is a picture of my new weekender bag that my cousin bought for me driving her around - poor me - I have to shop for 3 days....

Sorry this isn't a preventative measure, but on my white bag and white shoes, I use the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to get off mild stain and scuff marks.

I know this is anal, but I pretty much wash my white purse at least every couple days, if not every time I wear it. Keepign the dirt off is easier than getting it off. And it prevents it from getting grmy.

I was wondering the same thing.  I bought a new bag recently and asked a similar question.  Some posters suggested that I scotchguard it.  I bought the scotchguard but I haven't used it yet.  I'm a little scared to use it because it doesn't say specifically that it is for leather (although it lists upholstery).  I'll probably try it anyway--I'm pretty certain that it wouldn't hurt anything and it probably would protect it from stains.  Anyone know??

The reason I was thinking scotchguard is that my friend that owns an upscale shoe boutique would spray every pair of shoes I bought with scotchguard.....I would think it would be the same with handbags...
