Business Casual - Jeans?
Permalink Closed

Hi I have a training class tomorrow. I would like to wear dark jeans, since i have been wearing suits everyday at work. Is this ok for business casual?

Hmmmm, I don't think business casual allows jeans.  You'd be fine in a pair of trousers and a sweater, sweater set, blouse and blazer, etc, but in most cases business casual still means no jeans.

No Jeans!

I have to wear business casual everyday and jeans are not allowed.

Jeans, no matter how dark or dressy are still considered to TOO casual in the Corporate world.

I really think it depends on the culture of your business. I work in the corporate world and we're allowed to wear jeans every day except Monday. So I'd say if you've seen other people wear jeans during training sessions then go for it. Is it possible for you to ask if it's okay to wear jeans?

i think there are different levels of acceptance with business casual and jeans. i would think if you wear suits everyday jeans, even trouser jeans, would not be acceptable... but i would say take a queue from what other people are doing.

i would say that if your not sure you could wear jeans than no.  but i also think that if you wore the right pair of jeans you would be able to pull it off.  like if they didn't have any fading for feathering or they are not a dirty wash.  like a pair of trouser jeans or a pair of longer jeans with a wide leg.

style #1078835 available sizes: 25W X 30L 26W x 30L 26W x 32L 27W x 30L 27W x 32L 28W x 30L 28W x 32L 29W x 30L 29W x 32L something like this but in a very dark even wash.

i think these would be a great pair of jeans for work.  i've had my eye on them for 2 weeks now.

I'm gonna say no. Although my business casual workplace allows denim skirts, denim jackets, denim vests, denim jumpers, and colored denim jeans, they don't allow blue jeans of any wash or style.

Excuse the interruption...Halleybird, what the heck is a denim jumper?  I'm scared.

Oh, sorry. Those of you outside of the education profession rarely get to see these. And for the record, the Looney Tunes one would technically comply with the dress code, whereas my dark denim Express Editors do not.

At my office, business casual is dress pants or khakis at a minimum.

I think it depends on what your company says.  Mine only allows jeans at training on fridays and we are not allowed to wear jeans to the office except on designated days.  One of my client sites allows jeans on fridays so when I am there I get to wear jeans but I make sure I also don't have to go to the office.

I agree with Elle's suggestions of business casual: pants and a sweater or button up without the jacket or skirts and sweaters.  Jeans usually don't make it into the definition of business casual though.
