opinions on this skirt and outfit ideas needed
Permalink Closed

I'm thinking of ordering this skirt (sorry for the huge pic and that it's above my commentary).  It's on sale for $70, down from $232.  I'm not familiar with the designer.  Anyway, I really need skirts, I have none that fit me since I lost my baby weight and add'l weight.  I can't think of anything to wear with this, however.  What can I put with it to really make it pop??  The only thing that comes to mind is I have a really cute Laundry ss button down white top, but that just seems blah to me.  I guess I could do a fluttery black top or tee, but that, too, seems boring.  I can't think of any shoes I have that would go with it either, other than my ivory suede mules (last yr BR).  Any ideas or thoughts on outfit ideas or color combinations?  Should I pass on this??

the positioning of the buttons is throwing me off.

i think the gray banana republic snakeskin pumps that everyone has would go great with it...

I am going w/ shopgirl82- there is something funky about the buttons.

I am not loving the skirt.

I actually really like it. I hate tucking in my shirts, so I like that the detail wont get all covered up with the buttons being a little lower. I can picture it looking really cute with a cranberry top, maybe something plain like a simple sweater? I think you'd want to keep the top simple and play up the skirt.

Yeah, they're weirding me out a little too.

I think any cute (plain) top tucked in would look good with a high waisted belt.  Also, I bet it'd look good with fishnets and peep toe heels.  If the buttons look weird, just take them off.  I think it's really cute!

I really love the shape and style of the skirt.  However, I don't like the buttons but those can easily be removed.  I will try and think of some outfit ideas!

I really like that skirt and think it's a great value. I don't always wear my shirts tucked in either so I appreciate the lower placement of the buttons.

I have tried on other Louis Verdad items...granted they're mostly tops, but they seem to run TTS.

If you can take the buttons off with out damaging the skirt then this is what I see...sort of what everyone's elses thoughts combined.

Sheer black top with puff sleeve, INC actually has some cute ones now.
Wide belt maybe in black, or something fun and contrasting.
Peep toe shoes, bear leg.

This reminds me of something that Amanda Peet would wear, so I would channel her style.
HTH!

Thanks everyone for the opinions.  I'm still undecided.  I usually wear things untucked so the buttons didn't bother me, but now I'm not so sure.  I LOVE the suggestions from shopgirlusa and chic (I'd diggin the Amanda Peet reference) and the idea of pairing it with black.  Thanks girls, I'll let you know what I decide.
