Anyone catch the Sopranos last night?  I was pretty disappointed with it, honestly.  With only one season left, it'll suck if Tony's in the hospital the whole time!  I was sure they'd bring him back within the first 10 minutes.  I also didn't know what to make of that whole dream sequence.  And Anthony Jr. is such a little punk.

I'm hoping that next week's will be better... now that the bosses of both of the big families are out of commission (Tony in the hospital, Johnny Sac in jail), there's lots of opportunity for things to go wrong politically.

I thought the epsiode sucked eggs. It was really boring. I'm sure it is leading up to something "big," but last night was a waste of an hour.

i felt like i took alot of mental notes last night for foreshadowing.  it was boring, but i'm not that upset about it.

Yeah, I agree that last night's episode sucked.  I hope we don't have to suffer through much more of that.  It definitely was a plot building episode.

I didn't think it was a total waste though.  There were a few funny lines that had my hubby and I laughing though.  They all looked liked such tools fighting over who would do various tasks for Carmela.  And that sister Janice is so melodramatic and annoying!

i also feel that last nights episode was a little bit on the boring side, and i have always disliked the dream sequences in the show.  i find them boring.  but, i loved how aj stepped up and is totaly ready to take out jr.  i can't stand that old man.  i hate that they kept him around after him and livia tried to have tony killed.  he should have been dead then.

i have heard that christopher is going to die this season though and i feel like this episode set up a good platform for it.  with tony out of the loop, it would give philly the perfect oppertunity to get the revenge he wasn't allowd with tony b.  serisvictoria also told me that carmela is supposed to put a hit out this season, i wonder if it is on jr?

Same here, I think there was a lot of foreshadowing.  It was boring, but oh well - I know it will get better.

Okay, I totally thought it was an awesome episode--even better than last week's!  Both my BF and I were both so mesmerized we were glued to the tv screen.  I loved seeing Tony's vision of what his life would be like had he not entered the Mafia--I noticed he still wants to cheat on his wife though!  I thought everyone else would love this episode like I did and am really surprised to see that is not so.

i totaly got that too.  it made me sad to think of tony cheating on carmela again.  they are so good together and she is such a down-ass wife.  i don't see why he would want another woman.  other than to make him feel more important that these young beautiful women want him.  the male ego.

See, I love the idea of Tony being in a coma. It will be interesting if he spends the season hovering between life & death, and we can watch everyone try to cope without him. I think that's a better end to the season than the other two predictable outcomes for this series (Tony getting arrested or getting murdered).

That said, this episode felt a little like a setup for the others, but I didn't think it was boring. I DID think the Kevin Finnerty scenes were boring, though.

Some thoughts:

-Did anyone else notice that the wife Tony talks to in his dream (on the phone) does NOT sound like Carmela? To me it sounds like Adriana, but that might be because I miss her. The daughter sounded like Meadow, though.

-I think AJ's flunkout means he's being set up for joining the family business. And I love that Paulie calls him Van Helsing.

-What do you think the significance is of Tony being told he has Alzheimer's in the dream? Is it just a memory of Junior having it?

I totally noticed that - it was definitely not Carmela's voice.  I think it sounded like his girlfriend that killed herself, I can't remember her name though.

Last night was totally setting things up for the season. I must admit I cried when Tony was in the hospital it brought back memories of when my sister was in a coma (she too had to be restrained don't worry she is perfectly fine now this was 11 years ago). I think this will be an interesting season but if Tony dies how will they keep Dr.Malfi (Lorraine Braco) on the show?

Oh and Anthony Jr. total punk that kid needs to get his but kicked.

Oooh, good call! The one who worked at Mercedes, right?

Also, the woman he hit on was totally an incarnation of all of his mistresses -- dark-haired, professional, etc.

Yep!  That's the one I'm talking about!

OK, I just read some of the reader comments on televisionwithoutpity. Some of them think it's Charmaine, which would be really interesting and probably make more sense. IIRC, Charmaine and Tony had a "thing" back in the day. If he had not chosen to be a part of the Family, Charmaine would have been the perfect wife for him.

They're also saying Tony isn't dreaming, that he's sort of in Purgatory. Apparently there are a lot of Dante's Inferno references too.

Yeah I also thought it totally sucked.  I was extremely disappointed ... considering that my BF and I rushed back home from my mom's (4 hour drive) to see it.  Boo hiss!  There were some funny lines, as per usual, and Edie Falco's acting is AMAZING.  I was thinking that they should give Christopher a new love interest, but then someone mentioned that he would be killed this season.  Who knows what will happen.  I did find it interesting that Junior appeared to be unfazed when he learned that "Anthony" had been shot.  Even more so when he heard that he was the one who shot him.  Junior was already on the defensive -- insinuating that if Tony had gotten shot, that he probably did it himself because he was a "depression case".  He didn't seem to broken up about it and didn't even ask if Tony was okay.  He was automatically on the defensive.  Granted, he used to be the don and this was normally his reaction to most accusations of criminal acts, but I think he still resents Tony for taking over and putting him out to pasture, so to speak.  This isn't how I see it; I'm just hypothesizing as to how Junior might.

Forgive me for overanalyzing; I'm obsessed.

I think you're right. I think Junior's illness may be a total act. It seems to pop up at convenient times.

I thought the episode was good! I the Sopranos, it's my fav show on TV. I think there's lots of foreshadowing in the episode. I also think next week's episode looks really good.

Anyway, I thought this was an interesting article about this week's episode:
