Book for long flight?
Permalink Closed

Ladies, I need your help.  I'm flying to Vegas next weekend for a wedding and I'm going to be traveling for more time than I'll actually be in Vegas.  I really need a "good" book to keep me entertained. I want a page turner that I won't want to put down.  I looked over some of the "favorite book" threads but I think I'm looking for something a little more mindless than most of the books that were suggested.  I don't want completely trashy though, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  TIA!

Have you read the shopaholics series? That's really mindless & fun. Or The Devil Wears Prada?

I second the Shopaholic series - I literally read two in two days last summer.  I can't stop until I finish!

I am reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn right now, and I highly recommend it.  It's a great, easy story.  I'm going to be sad when I finish it!

i love the shopaholic series as well,

but for an additional suggestion - if you're into historical fiction at all "the other boleyn girl" is awesome - i just reread it and it kept me up late b/c i couldn't stop!  it's a total easy read- not tough to get through at all, and just fascinating to see the way things used to be.

JJ - I just finished A Tree Grows in Brooklyn!  I loved it!  And I think it would be a great plane read - very engrossing.

Not sure where you're at on these, but have you read the Harry Potter books? I started reading them in an airport and they were so engrossing, I couldn't go to bed that night until I'd finished the first one. And then I bought the next three the next day. If you've ever thought about reading them, I highly recommend them for engrossing books that you won't want to put down but that don't require a lot of thought.

I read The Da Vinci Code between a round trip plane ride and it was PERFECT for passing time.  I loved it so much I couldn't put it down even after my DH picked me up from the airport. I ignored him the whole car ride home because I was trying to finish the book (which I did a couple hours later).

It's really, really hard to put down, so if you haven't read it I highly reccommend it.

Ok, you guys are obviously good at recommending because I loved all the books that you listed that I've already read and they're exactly what I'm looking for.  The Other Boleyn Girl was one of my all time favs., I couldn't put down The Da Vinci Code, same with The Devil Wears, and I'm in love with Harry Potter. So, that leaves the Shopaholic series and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.  I'm going to order both becasue I'm always looking for good books.  Thanks again for the help.

blubirde and Hermione - have you listened to Harry Potter on book tape?  I read the whole series then listened to one of the book tapes and it was so good that I listened to the entire series again on tape.  Jim Dale, the actor who reads on the tapes, is amazing.  I think he even won an Academy Award for reading them.

Mindless hilarious books like the Janet Evanovich series are great.  Mystery, romance & humor all it one.

I believe there are 11 books out now and you literally won't put them down.

I HIGHLY recommend them, but they're so good you might not ever fall asleep!

I just finished Confessions of a Slacker Wife by Muffy Mead-Ferro, and also just finished Lipstick Jungle by Candace Bushnell.  Both were entertaining, easy reads.
