I'm starting to invest in classic, more expensive pieces that fit my lifestyle now (I'm a 20-year old college student) but I'll be able to use for years to come, if not forever. I had Chanel sunglasses, LV Speedy, and Frye Campus boots (ok, not so much an investment, but classic) on the list. Well, now I have all of those. I'm kind of stuck on what to save for now. I definitely want to own a Burberry trench, at least one pair each of classic Manolos, Louboutins, and Choos, a Chanel purse, and things like those... but I don't think I'd get much use of these things now. I'm not necessarily interested in the label attached to the item, though as I type this out it seems that I am . What kinds of items should I start to look for to incorporate into my closet now but take me throughout my older years? I'm stumped; help please.
I think it may be best at this point to invest in accessories since those can translate more easily from casual to dressy.
Are you interested in Chanel ballet flats? I adore them. I inherited mine from a good (much older) friend and wore them throughout college and I still wear them all the time now that I'm working.
Another thing might be Hermes or Pucci scarves. They can be tied onto purses or used as headwraps and headbands in more casual outfits.
Also, maybe a piece of jewelry. I am literally dying for a Hermes chain with the lock...I think it's the classiest, punk-ish thing ever.
You might want to be careful about the Burberry trench. I remember someone in the polls mentioning inheriting one, but never wearing it because it was "too loud." So maybe you'd want to pick one with just plaid trims not all over.
As for the classic piece... how about a Diane Von Furstenburg wrap dress?

Thanks... I was thinking just a plain, khaki trench, or maybe one like this
Thanks, girls... I was thinking accessories, too. I think next will be Chanel ballet flats. I adore them, and I'm so so so jealous whenever I see them in Lilykind's thread styles. Then maybe an Hermes scarf; that was far down on the list, but Im convinced.
A tiny investment piece could be a Pucci Cotton Scarf, I got one 3 years ago, and I can't tell you how much I use it. I think of it as one of my small investment pieces. Then go for a classic Hermes, I steal my Mom's and wear it as a belt! Or what about a great watch, that is actually a better gift, but still a fantastic investment piece if you can save and get something like Cartier.

Whoa!!!$320 for an Hermes scarf! Is that what they cost???? I feel so naive.
