I've really felt very good since Madeline was born, both physically and mentally. I think this is in part due to the fact that I have been very happy with the whole birth experience I had with her. The only exception I had is that it seems to be taking longer for my body to get back to normal. I had no swelling with this pregnancy, but a few days after delivering I was so swollen I had no ankles. Nothing fit for awhile even some of my maternity things could not adjust to the change in my body shape. Still I can not think of putting on anything normal, let alone pre-pregnancy.
I hate to sound so shallow... I am so in love with little Miss Madeline, but I would like to feel a little bit pretty too. I would love to not have to put on maternity jeans, or at least find a cute top to get by in...
awww, give yourself a break — it's only been a few weeks since she was born. your body will adjust — you know that. but i know it's no fun feeling swollen. i remember going out of my way to make sure my hair looked good and and that i had on at least some makeup in those rough weeks / months. even a simple manicure or pedicure could lift my mood a bit. what about a little shopping trip to find a cute "getting by" outfit for yourself? even if it's way too many sizes too big, new clothes (even just one piece) might make you feel pretty.... even though we can all see that you are beautiful from your avatar.
no apologies for sounding shallow. we know you love that little peanut.
You don't sound shallow at all... and I'll bet you'll be feeling great sooner than you think. Good luck and big hugs... I'm sorry, this sounds really hard...
Vent away, sweetie! Most women don't want to lose their bodies, no matter how much they love their babes. But don't feel too down about it; you've just had her and it did take a good nine months to get all stretched out, so it's not just gonna pop back into shape. Give yourself some time and in a few more months (at most, I'm sure!) you'll get your body back, or maybe even better!
I'd go for a walk around the mall, while you're buying yourself something special. Like hotcocoa said, even one little cute shirt could make you feel better. And plus that bit of walking around could make you feel better too. So hand that beautiful baby over to her daddy for a few hours and hit it. You deserve it.
I was just like that, it definitely took a little while to get back down to a normal size for me....I think it was about 6 to 8 weeks, but my boobs stayed big no matter what so I had to stick with bigger tops than I was used to. I happened to deliver a late August baby, so at that time, there were plenty of clearance summer items in one size up from my normal size and I just bought a bunch of comfortable clothes like T-shirts and athletic pants. I also had to go back to work for a while, since my previous work clothes didn't work, I bought a few basics from Old Navy.
And it definitely took a good 9 months to fit my hips back into my slimmest pre-pregnancy jeans.
