The last two eps have been SO GOOD... this past week's was insane! I SCREAMED when Baltar turned up in that first scene! So... frackin'... good!

So. Re: the abortion issue--I thought it was interesting, but a little off-base. It just seems like such a drastic measure to take, over something that has so little consequence. I mean, really, how many abortions are there going to be in the fleet in the course of a year... 10? 20? 50? Forcing those women to carry to term is hardly going to make the difference in the survival of humanity. Also, some people in the Television Without Pity forum that I go to pointed out that if you want to repopulate the human race, rather than outlawing abortion, a better approach would be to set up initiatives to get people to want to conceive. Kind of like a government tax credit for a renewable-fuel car, only with babies.

And this week's ep was just crazy good. I don't know how I feel about them bringing Anders back into the picture again, but that's mostly just cause I want Starbuck and Apollo to get together already. They have such an interesting, believable, complicated relationship that either of them with anyone else is boring. But I don't hate her with Anders as much as I hate Apollo with Dee. Yaaaawwwwn.

I was blown away by the fact that the new Six has an imaginary Baltar. He does it SO WELL--the two of them together, in every incarnation, are just incredible.

Only two episodes left, though! My boyfriend and I already decided that to counteract withdrawal, we are simply going to start over again watching the beginning of Season 2 as soon as it ends. Hopefully this will tide us over until the new season starts.

I was a little irked that they did the abortion issue.    But I thought it was a great moment when he stabbed Roslin in the back and announced that he was going to run for President.  I love Roslin, but it was a great bit of development for Baltar.

I startled Hubby during last week's ep because when Baltar showed up on the Cylon ship I pointed at the screen and yelled "CYLON!!!"  I'm convinced he's a Cylon now.  How could Baltar have survived that explosion?  Unless Six shielded him with her body.  I'm starting to think that Baltar is some kind of super sleeper agent that the other 12 models don't know about.  I don't know if I want him to be a Cylon, I like the idea of him just being crazy better.

I don't like Apollo/Dee either.  It just seems contrived.  I think that Anders will be killed off, or something will happen to end his "relationship" with Starbuck.  I think that if they go back to Caprica to rescue Anders & Co., he'll die saving people.  Then Starbuck and Apollo can get back together.

The new season doesn't start until August, from what I understand.    But the last ep is supposed to be 90 mins instead of an hour.

I agree that it's inexplicable that he survived the explosion, but if he's a cylon, then I don't see the point of sending Six down to spend two years seducing him, manipulating him, and gaining his trust so that she could eventually gain acess to the defense system databases. He could have just done the entire thing without her being involved at all, and also, if we go by Boomer's behavior, without realizing what he was doing it or what he was, so that his status as human sleeper need not have been compromised.

But then again, one thing I love about this show is how unpredictable it is. If they want to turn Baltar into a Cylon and give me a good explanation for the whole Six/defense mainframe scenario, I'll buy it!

Also, I wouldn't mind Anders being around for a little while, if only so Apollo can get bitchy and jealous, but only for a couple eps. Apollo/Dee needs to end ASAP. You're right--it is contrived--all the other relationships (not just romantic) on the show are part of its heart, and part of the plot. This just feels extraneous. I'm curious what their rationale was for that one.

I listened to the podcast about last week's episode.  Ronald D. Moore bascially said that Baltar and Caprica Six are hallucinating each other because they see each other as consciences.  So Baltar is a human and Six is a Cylon, but they visualize each other when they need guidance.

That makes me happy, because I'd rather have Baltar be an unhinged human than some kind of Cylon sleeper agent.

I'd add more, but Hubby and I split a bottle of wine during Lost, and my brain isn't cooperating.
