long hair question?
Permalink Closed

Sorry if this is a stupid question but my hair has never been this long before- ever.

I have really fine hair so I get tangles/muss alot and I feel like I need to brush my hair quite a few times throughout the day. Is this normal? How many times a day do you usually brush your hair? Is there some sort of product I could use that would keep me from getting so mussy?

hmm I am not sure. i have long thick hair but i don't have this problem. I am thinking maybe running a detangler through your hair before you style it?

I wear my hair curly about 4-5 times a week so I never brush it those days.

But even when I straighten it, I will only brush once or maybe twice throughout the day.. My hair is thick and I just don't need to brush it much.

What kinds of products are you using to style? Maybe if you had a good "setting" product, it would stay in place and get less tangled?

I use a leave-in conditioner/detangler and a split end serum when its wet. That's it. Sometimes a bit of pomade to tame frizzies when I pull it back. Because its really fine my hair can't hold alot of product.

What do you suggest as a setting product? I'm not even sure if I know what that is.

before i lopped it off a few weeks ago, my hair was to my collar bone.  i have very fine thin hair.  i, too, had issues with it being a big tangled mess by mid-day.  i usually brushed it 2 times per day in order to combat it.

my usual product regime when i had long hair was:

s/c every other day

comb out with detangler

apply root lifting spray to roots and either straightening serum or silk gloss to ends

blow out

spray with shine spray and flat iron

piece out with a pomade and finish with a light hold hair spray

somedays were better than others as for tangles.... usually around 3, i ended up putting my hair in a pony

My hair is pretty long, too. It's not terribly thick but it's not fine either, but I get the same issue with tangles. Usually I just run my hands through it a few times a day to "detangle," if you will. I'll usually brush it in the late afternoon if I'm going somewhere after work. My hair gets tangled so easily though! When I go to the salon, they comb it out when it's wet, no tangles. They come it through again, just to be sure and it's full of tangles again! I don't know what the deal is. I think it's because my ends are too dry and, at least during the work day, it rubs agains my chair a lot because it's so far down my back.

Basically I just complained a bit there. I have no solutions but you're not alone. Mine sucks too. But if I wear it curly, I don't have that problem. I brush it before I wash it and that's it. I won't brush it again for a few days.

Mine does the same thing.  I think it's because my hair is so fine but I'm not sure.  I've just accepted it .
