changing comforter/quilt seasonally?
Permalink Closed

I was given a velvet quilt as a Christmas gift and love it, but think it may have to be rotated with something else during the spring/summer months. For one, it is velvet, which I think of as a fabric only for cold weather, and two, the colors are deep jewel tones, which also seems very wintery.

Do you ladies ever rotate your comforter or quilt depending on the season, and do you think it's worth me spending the money to get something new? TIA!

I have a few duvet covers that I change occasionally. I don't do it seasonally, just when one get a little grubby I put a clean one on.

But it sounds like a good idea. The velvet one might be too heavy and hot for summer.

I don't really change them seasonally, just when one gets dirty, I put another one on and wash the dirty one.  I only use quilts though and they're all pretty springy/summery pattern, I don't have any that would even look wintery.

i change mine seasonally--i have a really thin quilt that i use in the summer, and then i switch it out for the duvet in the winter.  or if it's really cold, i use both.

thanks!
