I've been thinking about investing in a pair of nice sunglasses for spring. I want a pair of Chanel's. However, I looked at the ones offered in stores and they are all huge. I want a more classic shape. I want thinking of getting a past season pair from ebay. My question is, I have no idea how to tell between real and fake ones, any tips from owners???

Good post rocky... chanel sunglasses are on my birthday list, i was hoping to just get them at nordstroms,but i dont want big ones, i just want a classic black pair.  Thats disappointing to hear that they dont have classic ones :(  Where else can i buy them?

i bought the Chanel 5030's three years ago.  well, i got drunk at the beach and lost them and was super bummed because they were my perfect sunglasses.  last year i was sunglasses shopping and every chanel pair i saw were too big for my face.  well, after a month or two of shopping, i saw them (later the sa told me that they sell out in about a week).  so, even if those aren't the model that you like, i would keep an eye out for previous years models (i bought them at nordstrom, but first saw them at bloomingdales in tortise shell).  here's the glasses for reference (mine are black with silver cc's).

My 5030's were perfect andthey are currently MIA. I've been missing them for a few weeks now.


I believe they should all have 4 digit style numbers which are printed on one of the legs of the sunglasses. They're made in Italy...and then after that, you should just amke sure the seller is willing to give you pics of the sunglasses from super-close up and all.


ETA: Here's a pic of the sunglasses on me, for scale. It's one of the pics on my myspace page.

oh no! i feel for you  i just had a scare w/ the frickin' case and thought i was going to go bonkers when i couldn't find it.


btw, i think the 5030's are the best investment model.  they've been in style since jackie o and i still see them everywhere.  however, when my dad saw them on me he did say they were kinda big but then he got used to them.

I have the 5030s as well and I love them too.  I bought them at Bloomingdales 2 months ago so they're still around.

I think I HAD....yes I can't find them, but the same ones as Lilykind and they were a perfect size!
