I was in a car accident yesterday I -very luckily- was not hurt bad. Just some whiplash.
I hit a patch of ice yesterday morning at 7am, spun around and my boyfriend, who was driving behind me, couldn't stop and hit me which threw me into the other lane into the guard rail. Both of our cars were undriveable.
My car is probably not going to make it. Which means a huge fight with my insurance company.
So now I am on these muscle relaxers TRYING to concentrate on work and my boss is piling crap on me!
I need some words of encouragement to get through my day. If you don't mind.
Seashells: What a truely terrifying experience! How you are even able to work after this just happening to you is beyond what I could muster. Tell your boss to back off! Of course in a more delicate manner... Let him\her know that although you want to be there to get your work responsibilities done- that you are in pain , are shaken up, and because of this a lighter load would be appreciated. This should not be something that you should have to even state to your boss- but obviously this person lacks basic compassion, so it has to be spelled out. Do not feel bad if their reaction is in any way bad- you have a right to this lighter load and they should commend you on your ability to be there after this event just happening!!!

Agreed. He should be grateful that you even came into work today! You must feel terrible. I'm glad you weren't hurt more seriously!
awww, i'm glad you're ok. it must've been so scary.
hang in there. i think it shows what a hard worker you are that you came to work, but tell your boss that it's hard to get through the day (maybe offer a half day today and tomorrow?).
also, maybe look into a heating pad or a nice bath if you can tolerate it. the heating pad will work wonders.

Oh no! Hugs and I am SOOOO glad you're ok - it will be all right, it will be all right, it will be all right.! Your body is the only thing that can't be easily fixed, right? And what a trooper you are, showing up to work anyway! Good job sweetie! You're doing great and the details probably seem daunting right now but they will be fixed before you know it....
hey Seashells...I completely know how you're feeling! i don't know if you saw my post a couple days ago (it's probably down there on page 2 or 3 now), but i was in an accident myself on monday. i hydroplaned in the rain and rear-ended someone, and my car was totaled. i am keeping my fingers crossed that your car is luckier than mine!!! i wasn't injured either, just some whiplash as well, but that's no fun either, and stress about the accident, and work and stuff, can only make it worse...
just be thankful you and your BF weren't hurt (icy roads are so scary!)...i am having trouble dealing with the guilt and anger that it happened to me...*please* PM me if you want to talk or commiserate!
oh, what a scary experience! i know how you feel...i was in a car accident about a year and a half ago while riding in a taxi. you are such a trooper to go in to work anyway! my suggestion: get yourself a massage this weekend, or better yet, a couple's massage with your boyfriend. my neck and back were very sore after my accident, and i got a massage and it made a world of difference. plus, it's a nice, soothing treat, which you certainly deserve right now!
I am so sorry...BLACK ICE IS THE WORST!!! I hit black ice on the highway and destroyed my car. It was by far one of the scariest experience of my life. The only thing I can say is thank goodness you were not hurt bad. It sucks that both cars are wrecked but at least you and your boyfriend are ok! Things will get better, yes the insurance company will be a pain to deal with but take it one moment at a time...
