Threading?

never had it done but have watched it being done.

apparently it is less painful than waxing. and the results last a lot longer...

i love threading! it originated in India/Asia and is slowly starting to catch on here... until the last year or so, threading was the only way i had my eyebrows done...imo

threading is just as painful, possibly less, than waxing (but it is a new feeling, so the first time it could be weird)

creates a much better shape

causes less bumps/breakouts

regrowth is better.... I have been waxing regulary for the last year after really only getting my brows threaded and i find that it is much more difficult to keep up with my brows now than it used to be

I would definitely recommend you try it out.. but make sure the person has enough experience and understands exactly what shape you want...

I'm dying to try threading, but I have no idea where to find a place around me that does it. Are most spas/salons doing it now, or is it still pretty uncommon?

I've had it done a handful of times and for me, it is always more painful than waxing. I've gone to some very good places for it too (like Shobha, which is one of the better-known places). I guess it depends on what hurts you more. I personally can handle having lots of hairs pulled out at once, but threading (where it is basically one at a time) really hurts me. It could be a personal thing though.

In New York City there are a lot of places to get it done but I could see there being a lot less places elsewhere. It seems like a lot of the places that do it are places that specialize in threading-- places that do waxing often don't do threading. There are a ton more places for waxing.

i TOTALLY agree with this statement. it could be because i have been waxing for years now and so it doesn't hurt much, but the couple times i've had it done, it hurts.

there is an indian area in chicago with salons for threading all over..threading is super inexpensive too. the problem is, is that the area is just a bit farther (i'm so spoiled, it's really not that far), and i have a lady that i love who does my waxing that is just around the corner. in my experience, and this could be wrong, a lot of the places that i see that do threading don't always seem to be the cleaniest. also, there's some sanitary issues because they put the thread in their mouth, so essentially the saliva can make it's way down the thread.

i think if i found a good place, for financial reasons alone, i would definitely try it again.

eek... I would NOT go somewhere where they are putting the thread in their mouths-- i know that some people do it b/c it could be easier, but they can just tie the thread in a circle and twist it that way. when i got them done professionally, they certainly never did that ( this was when i studied in London).

again, it's part of the reason why I would say you have to go somewhere you can check out/seems professional...
