I am so irresponsible! And it has just gotten worse with age. As I was readjusting my budget for my next paycheck to accommodate the freakin' CASH ADVANCE I am taking from my credit card to cover the $80 worth of overdraft fees I accumulated from my bank because I haven't reconciled my accounts in Quicken in FOREVER and had no idea how much money I actually had (apparently none), I realized that the past 2 paychecks I have also spent a large chunk of change on incredibly stupid things. Last paycheck, it was the $200 worth of payphone calls I made when I forgot my cell phone at home one day (yeah, payphones are apparently really expensive nowadays). Then, the one before that, it was a $150 parking ticket. I totally suck.
Oh, dont be so hard on yourself. Truely, we have all been there in some way or another. But, you do need to sit down and find out where you are and try to form some knid of budget so you dont stress yourself out even more ! Dont beat yourself up though! Hugs!!!
Oh, that sucks! I'm sorry! It really does happen to everyone though. I always feel like when I start feeling on top of the world or things are really going my way, I'll check my bank account and it's like "Wham! You have no money. Sorry, you suck."
You'll get through it though. It's tough, but you will.
$200 of payphone calls in one day??? are you kidding?
Yup. 6 less than 5 minute calls at $25-$40 a piece. And I put them on my debit card so I didn't even realize how much I had spent until I got home. I haven't used a pay phone in years. I expected that they might be like $5 a piece, but I had no idea what I was in for.
It cost $25 to $40 to make a call from a payphone now? Since when? Is that legal? I am seriously shocked. I don't think anyone else would have known that, either, and seriously, parkign tickets are practically acts of god (They got me for $300 last year...)

It was interstate. I was in NY and calling NJ. The phone company (Qwest) did give me 30% off when I called them freaking out, but it's still a lot of money for phone calls. One of the calls I even hung up immediately when the voicemail picked up and that was $25.
And when did parking tickets get so expensive? I remember getting one a few years ago and it was like $40. I got my car TOWED once and it only cost me $75. I didn't even see the sign. I swear they moved it there after I parked.
as far as the pay phone calls go, that sounds completely ridiculous as well. if i were you i would call and threaten to report them to the better business bureau and see what they say then. tell them you're not going to pay, and then DO report them to the BBB. i don't see how that's not gouging.
seriously the pay phone thing is ridiculous. you know how my cell died in nyc? well, i tried making a call w/ my cc and i asked the operator how much it would be and she was like $17 for the first 3 minutes. yeah, right. but, i think that if you have change, it's not that much, i just didn't have change on me @ the time. thank goodness some kind stranger took pity on me and let me use his phone. anyway, don't beat yourself up, live and learn and now you know.
