Vintage Clothing Search on eBay
Permalink Closed

I see a lot of you ladies find great vintage clothing or accessories on eBay. I was wondering what the secret to your success is. When your searching, do you have a specific item in mind or do you do a general vintage search? I'd like to add some vintage pieces to my wardrobe and your help is appreciated. TIA

I'm interested to hear what you ladies have to say too.  A bunch of you girls got cute jewelry online at ebay this weekend, yet I can never seem to find anything.

What's the secret???

I think it depends on what you're looking for. I usually do a general search first, and when something catches my eye, I'll do a more specific search using key words from the listing and usually find a similar item that suits what I need.

EX: I do a search on "vintage shoes". It pops up a listing for a pair of vintage plum Ferragamo flats that I like but are too small. So in the next search I'll put in "vintage Ferragamo" or "vintage plum flats". It's a little roundabout and I'm sure the other girls on here have a much direct way of searching, but I've found some really amazing pieces this way. You just have to have the time to search. HTH!

I spend LOTS of time searching when I can. Most of the time I know what I'm looking for & try to make it as specific as possible (lace bed jacket, for example) but then that usually turns into finding something cool & searching that item. Or finding a seller I like & searching them. I have a seller I watch because she tends to have bigger items & vintage clothes in larger sizes are hard to find. You can also look up stores & narrow it down to vintage clothing stores. I think in general you can tell if a seller has crap or stuff you really like, and you can add them to your favorites. Ebay will send you an email on their newest stuff every so often - weekly maybe?

I am like Liz - I will just look at maybe dresses in general, then find the era of the style I like & look there.

HTH some.

I do the same as Laken and Liz... I also will sometimes scroll through based on time period (eg. 50's), just to see what's there. And I definitely echo that you have to be able to spend some time on it!
