Ummm?? Please explain

I went to my mailbox the other day and there was a handwritten card addressed to me.  It said:

"Nancy, Hello.  Just wanted to drop you a little note to say thank you fro stopping by.  It was fun shopping with you.  I hope you enjoyed the Halogen Cardigan.  If you ever havey any questions please let me know.  Thanks again, Amy"  Included was her Nordstroms business card.

Now, I have shopped many times before and spent lots more money than my clearanced out cardigan.  To top it off Amy never shopped with me, if anything she just rang me up. I'm just a bit confused.

i'm assuming that since the brand was halogen you were at Nordstroms?  and the BP department?

i had this happen before too.  all i bought was a summer tiered white skirt for $30 and she sent a thank you card.  and all she did was ring me up.  we had a cute little convo at the register, but still.  considering i have spent MUCH more than that at the Savvy department before, i was confused.  i think they have to do it for some reason or another.

As a Nordstrom sales associate you are required to send out thank-yous. Typically to big customers to build your business but some times managers put pressure to send out lots of thank-yous or on a slow night you could be insanely bored and have nothing to do so you send thank-yous to anyone( I used to work there many years ago)

As a Nordy Sales Rep for many years on/off in college I know what this is.

It's advised to send out Thank You Notes to customers as part of the whole "Nordstrom" customer service oriented experience.

My last manager would have these requirements that we send out 5 noted a day or 20 notes a week, etc.  I would usually just send the customers I liked the best, or the ones we had addresses for in the system.

:)
