what to do?

i bought the BEST black cotton turtleneck evah a few weeks ago at a small boutique in Columbus.  It is a James Perse which i have a ton of and have never had problems with.  i've worn the t-neck a grand total of 3 times...

i took my shirt off last night and one of my fingers pushed on the fabric and pushed right through!  i now have a nice sizeable hole right in the middle of the shirt... how in the hell does that happen?  it wasn't like i was being rough with the shirt and i am sure this happens all the time with other stuff and it certainly doesn't rip!

i know the boutique won't take it back because their return policy seriously sucks (this is one time i wish i would have waited to see if nordstroms has it)

what would you do?  i love the shirt and don't want to pitch it after 3 wearings... but i think it will look stupid mended...

Have you checked with the James Perse customer service?  I don't have any experience with them but it's worth a shot.  I know a lot of higher end brands are really good about replacing merchandise that doesn't meet standards.

ETA:  Definitely tell them that you're a frequent buyer but are very disappointed with this purchase.

I agree. It wouldn't hurt to ask JP CS to replace it!

I don't want to sound too "bedazzled" about this, but maybe you can find an aplique you like and place it over the hole and then attach some matching beading in other places so it doesn't look like just 1 random aplique, but a detailed top?

Are you positive that the boutique you bought it from won't make an exception since the item is damaged?  If you're sure they won't, I agree w/the other girls - call JP CS and see if they can replace it.  Let us know what happens!

no it was dr. mojoe and even though i love dr. mojoe- it scares me for some reason.  kevin (the guy in charge) is fabu but i'm kinda scared of him too!  like he is so awesome and so well known around c-bus for his talent at finding good jeans for everyone who goes in there that he makes me feel inferior in his presence...

anyway- i'm going to go the way of james perse first and see what comes of it.

That really sucks.  Hopefully James Perse will do something about it.  But if worse comes to worse...maybe you can salvage it to wear under cardigans, camisoles, vests, blazers, etc.

Oh, and depending on where the hole is...a strategically placed belt or ribbon could do the trick too.

Oh no bex!  Your beautiful Black turtleneck has a hole in it... That was seriously the most perfect black turtleneck ever... I really hope you are able to get an exchange... please keep me updated... It would be so sad if you were not able to get a new one.  If the jP customer service doesnt work out, i think you should go and talk to kevin at mojoe... he is really intimidating, but it would be worth it... Id go with you for moral support lol.
