when you give a bottle of wine or booze to someone for a gift, how do you attach the card to the bottle? poke a hole and tie the ribbon through it, tape it to the bottom, what?
I put it in a fabric wine bag that you can get nearly anywhere - Target has cute ones - or one of the cylinder containers that are like cardboard from Michaels. All cute.

If it's a small card, I'd poke a hole and tie a ribbon. If you're going to be handing it to the person personally and it's not a big party where your gift and card would get separated, I'd just hand the card over unattached. You could also get a wine bag (I've seen them at the dollar store) and tie the card to bag.

thanks, girls. it's a bottle of maker's mark for a guy's b-day, so i think he would find a decorative bottle bag or the cellophane-job i would normally do a little silly. it's also going to be a huge party, so i just wanted to do something simple and i will possibly just leave it on a counter rather than handing it to him directly. i have some thin plaid ribbon, so i was just going to tie a simple bow with that, and i guess i will get a small card and poke a hole and thread it on the ribbon. does that sound ok? or too plain?

Sounds good to me. When I get bottles of things for gifts, they don't usually have a card but if it's a big party and you want him to know who it's from, I would definitely go the card route. I think ribbon with a card attached sounds fine.
no, that sounds fine -especially in this circumstance - i was just throwing out options & I just gave tons of wine as gifts at Christmas so i was full of ideas.

I think what you are planning sounds perfect. I usually am in a hurry so I just hand the card separately to the host or just give it to them without a card, which is obviously not ideal (but the best I can do usually). If I want to attach it then I will tape it but only b/c I don't have a hole punch at home. So this post has reminded me that I need to get a hole punch next time I go to Michaels or Target.
